I'm self employed and I pay my workers $20.00 an hour. But, there was a time in my life when I had 3 children and a wife to support on minimum wage. Even though at it's core capitalism is evil...Because the fat cats are getting rich off the backs of people, when I was working for the man I never even dreamed of commuting a crime, stealing private property and crashing into a forest. I do. Even did some research on it. Ketron Island is accessible only by ferry four time a day between 5:45 AM to 8:00 PM from the town of Steilacoom and cost just under $6 a ticket.

They weren’t talking over him on purpose. That one frequency probably had 10-15 other aircrafts on it. And the air traffic controllers had to keep all the passengers and planes safe as well.

@@IssuesWithMyTissues he was in a non populated area going on a thrill seeking mission, they would have only shot him down if they thought he was a threat to those on the ground, and they wouldn't do that over a populated area unless he was heading for a stadium or the white House or something. They twigged what level of threat he was, and kinda let him get on with it. Unfortunately, he went past the point of no return, he found life tough as it was, but it would have been tough tenfold if he had to serve the 20 plus years he would have prob got for that offence, so ditched the plane, if he had his legs over the golden gate bridge, he could have prob been talked down, but not from this. Hope he is at peace now.

You know this is sad, the guy sounds like a good guy,lost, but sad no one could save this guy. Rip skyking Why didn't they go radio silence this is a major issue

I was wondering the same thing. I listened to the fighter jet guys radio and they had his freq and decided that the ATC guys had a handle on it. they commented on his barrel roll and when he nosed it on down for the night.

Craig W all the others using the frequency had no reason to be using that frequency when they have back up channels they could have used so they could handle the issue at hand. People should have been fired for the lack of public safety that he potentially could have harmed. I know sky king said he didn't want to hurt anyone, but the facts of the matter is even people that have murdered people say they don't want to hurt anyone but ended up doing so anyways.

+1 points to Rich. If he got in this plane and actually got it off the ground, good for him. Airplanes, especially turbobprops(this plane) are not like cars. You don't get in and turn a key, off you go. There is a bit more to i than that. Being a ground crew guy, seems he did some homework.

Nah I think he wanted to kill himself and this was the way that he came up with. I don't think that he intended to safely land the plane after being free and having some fun because he didn't want to deal with the consequences of stealing a plane.

Around 17:15 he said he wants to casually talk with them meaning needing someone to talk to and he follows it up with " but it's all business " meaning that these people wont talk to him the way he wants and needs...sad... that was for sure a cry for help and a chance and these professionals blew that chance...

I just think about his poor, precious wife. God, I can't imagine her pain. Her day was normal as always, all she knew was her husband went to work. And the first time she was home after learning of his death, I can't even put myself there mentally, it's too painful. She would see all of his stuff, probably a bit tossed about from where he was getting ready for work like any other day. It makes me feel real pain to think about how it was for her. They seemed to have a happy marriage and were together many years.

It’s really a shame no one spoke this man like a human in the last hour of his life. They should have had a psychologist talk to him over the radio

@@colemin2 he lived more in that hour in the air than he did in his entire life on the ground. he meant to do no harm to the people around the area in which he flew and he went from this world like a badass and his actions that day still changes people to live a life without any regrets wish he talked to someone cause he is a great human being and too good for this world he went like a badass.

Not to put blame on the man handling Russell, but I feel like if they would've talked with him more than just flying the plane, loosened up, got to his level... maybe they could've got him to come back. He specifically comments how he'd like it to be more of something, but they are all just business. He really needed someone else in his ears.

No raise in their BELOW MINIMUM WAGE PAY. That’s right, the airline industry is exempt from the $15/hr minimum wage laws passed by the state. These people have the highest security clearance of anyone working for the airline. The go through extensive background checks. When I did this in 2006, the pay was $9/hr. I did it part time for flight bennies but many like Rich here are trying to live and have a family on this working full time. Greed in America is out of control in our corporations.

I just heard about this from MrBallen channel and I live by seatac Airport!!! I did have a stroke around that time so I was out of it then but it honestly sounds like he definitely did not want to hurt anyone. This is so sad he sounds like a really nice guy. He flew that plane like a champ and the air traffic controller and pilot who talked to him were so nice.

This makes me cry every time I listen to it. RIP King
