Warehousing and how to operate warehouse equipments
Sky Jack aka scissors lift
Ontario working at heights regulations- requires all workers to be trained on fall protection when working at heights. By law operators MUST "strap-up" when working at heights over 9 feet or 3 meters high. OR 6 feet or 2 meters in the USA.
However, the warehouse management can establish their own requirements as long as it comploys that that law.
For example most warehouse requires the operators to put on a harness once operating any machine that elevates at operator. So as to prevent the machine operator from instances where he/she forgets to hook on and elevates to highs that requires personal fall protection systems.

Thank you for the run down , I had my heights training and training for the ESP and tomorrow I am practicing driving the darn thing and on the 21 am being tested for my license for it. So I may watch this couple more times. It would been cool if you did the circle check before operating it. But thanks
i use one of those lifts everyday hanging pipe in a parking garage, we get garbage rentals, that dont work very well, but its much better than working off a ladder
thank you for the lesson and information.

+Johnny Westbrook you are welcome. thank you for following all my videos
hi, nice vídeo man thanks for the info. i have one question. what could happen if you are lifted and you get an oil leak or a power failure? would it gently come down or would it smash to the ground?
very good~~
fall protection is required even at ground level when moving the scissor lift. Railings mean nothing if it is tipping over. You may not like it but thats the law. Section 85 of the Regulation for Industrial Establishments (Reg. 851) When a worker is in an elevated work platform (such as a scissor lift) that is more than three metres above ground they must be protected from falling. Assuming the lift is secured from moving, then the guard rails of the lift would prevent the worker from falling. However, when the lift is moving there is a risk that a worker could be ejected regardless of the height of the guard rail, and thus needs to be protected from falling. The employer should require workers wear fall protection as a reasonable precaution to protect the worker from a hazard, as per clause 25(2)(h) of the OHSA. In addition, it would be expected that employers are aware of and observing the manufacturer’s instructions for the scissor lift, which could include a worker wearing fall protection.

Railings mean nothing if its tipping over and so does wearing a harness .. that's why people in charge of safety have reputations as idiots sometimes .. because they use the law to justify why we should do something and not common sense

The only thing I heard was the information about the height requirements when fall protection is required. OSHA actually considers a scissor lift to fall under the scaffolding category. You do not have to wear fall protection as long as the guard rails are adequate.

Personally I wouldn’t want to wear a harness because if it tips over, you just built a human catapult and you will probably get squished.. that’s just me though.
