I am somewhat confused, because I would like to have a "Skyrim SE SKSE" directory like you have. So are you duplicating the Skyrim SE directory and in the new directory add the skse64 files or is there something I am missing?

So, a question. When Downloading the Part 1 of the Address Library, Vortex had no assigned folder for the mods on the drive I'm using, so I made one. Is it okay if it's in a different area than the Skyrim SE folder as long as it's the same Drive? And, is placing Part 2 of the Library directly in the Skyrim SE folder (the one with the .exe) going to cause any issues?

Hey so I properly downloaded everything but newly downloaded mods to vortex won’t show up in game when going through the skse loader. Any fixes to get Vortex to enable the mods in my SKSE file and not just the regular Skyrim app?

If I have Skyrim legendary edition and not special edition which version of skse do I have to download the one you downloaded or the older one?

Just the default Skyrim version. Legendary(2013) was released before Special Edition(2014).

why do you need the microsoft c++? and do you put that in the skyrim folder?

I have the vortex operational and in the list of mods it says skse 64 and it is green meaning it is not only installed but it is enabled. I still get the message at the start of the game that the skse is not installed properly and thus sky ui will not work. So.. not sure how to get this fixed. I do notice that the usual options to select some mod preferences through sky ui are not showing up. I guess there is some truth to the error message. Thanks for any help. ..

I've just done a reinstall of skyrim se and skse64, including all the extra files and mods you mention, and I haven't installed any of my mods yet. Whenever I run the skse64 launcher nothing happens - task manager doesn't even blink. Windows notifies me that I'm making changes to my computer and then nothing launches. Did I accidentally skip a step?

I fixed this btw, the problem was that steam wasn't running in the background, so I just need to remember to open steam first, then run the launcher

So very helpful. I just discovered the undeath mod, and then the mod "classical lichdom" which requires everything outlined in this video. Of course, we have now evetered the "Skyrim Anniversary Edition" dynasty, so unfortunately I have to wait for everything to be updated first 😢 but when it is, I'll surely play this video over again. Thanks!

The second part will not extract into the file you are extracting it into, Why is that? And is it needed? Do I NEED the shortcut?

Could you please do a video on how to install Part 2 of SSE Engine Fixes? I installed the Address Library and the C++ (x64), and when i unzip with 7zip and copy the 3 dll's to the SSE folder, the skse loader no longer works.

I could, it sounds like you did everything right. I'm assuming you have also installed part 1. As part 1 and 2 are both needed. My recommendation is to reinstall the SKSE files again, overwrite. Then install the part 2 DLLs again. If you have part one already.

Thank you for this video! I am having a problem though. When I go to launch using skse64_loader.exe I get an error message that says, "You have instructed skse_loader to run the vanilla launcher which cannot work. Man, this shit is why I just use whatever mods are available directly from the special edition mod list, even though there aren’t many good ones. This is such a complicated process that no one without tons of pc knowledge and experience would figure out on their own.

I agree. I have watched a lot of videos on how to install SKSE and it just gets too confusing. I have mods on VORTEX that I play with, but unfortunately, I can't download any mods that require SKSE. Please, somebody come up with an easier way to do this for dummies like me.

The only way I was able to fix this was by completely Uninstaller all of it and starting from scratch

Actually I found a fix real quick uhh. So I'm going to show how to fix this real quick if you have this problem. www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32444 is the file you're going to have to unzip. All you have to do is go into your skyrim special edition folders and search for the SKSE folder labeled "plugins" All you have to do is copy the bin folders into the plugins file and it'll run.

Sounds like you already had a mod installed. The mod should have mentioned it as a requirement. The address libraries is used by mod creators to prevent mods from having to be updated each time the game updates.

I hope I'm not too late to add a comment on here to get help lmao On the Nexus mod manager, it is not registering that I have skse64 installed already. I have it in a folder with Skyrim SE and still not able to find it. (just a quick note, I had issues with the sse folder in the program files and since then moved it to a spot on desktop. Don't know if that might be an issue already) I followed another KZreadr's tutorial vid and since then had up and coming problems. Not only with the mod manager and vortex being unable to find the skse, but Skyrim telling me I have skse version 0.0.0 (for some reason lol)

I would personally attempt to manually install the SKSE files again, overwrite anything. The version 0.0.0 makes me believe it is broken. Also likely why it's not being detected. I'm assuming of course the game is still functional after the move.

I’m not at a spot I can research it. But most error messages means your missing SKSE files or it needs to be run as administrator.

@@TheMorokei This is the same message I was getting. I just tried run as admin and it did the same thing, came on for 2 seconds and then closed.

Followed this step by step and Skyrim wont load whatsoever. I get a very quick glimpse of a black box then it disappears after a split second and I get nothing after that :/

Only works for Steam. Xbox has its own mods you can download through the game itself. Only thing you can really do :/

I know this is a bit late, but the game was probably recently (at the time) updated and there wasn’t an update for SKSE at the time. You would just have to wait for a new version of SKSE

I did pretty much everything the video says but when I try to run SKSE it say that I am running a new version of Skyrim and that it is not compatible. I downloaded SKSE from the official page and it is the newest version. My Skyrim copy is from the xbox app.

@@TheMorokei unfortunately for me, i have the same issue and it is very frustrating. i am also playing special edition from the xbox app, with my mods enabled, and it still says im using an imcompatible version while having the newest one possible and being up to date with the current skyrim. i have no clue how to fix this and none of my mods work since ive installed SKSE

You also failed to say how to install the VC_redist.x64.exe for it to work.

When I click the skse64 loader thing it brings up skyrim and everything but it wont stoop loading :(

So it stays black on launch and you never here any music or sounds? Have you installed any other mods then SKSE? If you haven't try running skse_loader.exe as administrator by right clicking it.

Here's a challenge for you Morokei. How to get SKSE64 to work though the steam launcher on Linux. On Windows you just add all the SKSE files to your directory and run the game with the skse64_loader.exe and your good to go. I can't do that on Linux or if you can I don't know how. I also don't know how to get SKSE64 to run though Steam. I did find one guide to do this and the game did load, but when I opened the command window and typed in getskseversion it said it wasn't found. I'm at a lose here as I'm still fairly new to Linux only about a year now and still have alot to learn about Linux. I sure hope you can help me and if you can't could you please pin this so it stays at the top and maybe someone that can help will read it and be able to help a fellow Linix noob gamer to get his game working with SKSE64 though the Steam launcher if possible. Thanks upfront and have a nice day/night. :-)

It's has two server download options. One is completely free to use, slow download. Then there is the fast download option. Which comes with being a member, costing real life money. Slow download is locked at 1mb/s, if you got the fast download and it was the same. Then it's could be your browser and internet speed holding it back.

Some people have found ways to allow access to the folder where you can launch the game via .exe. the issue right now is you can't launch skyrim with skse. I'm hoping I can find a workaround though

There are two options. One, right click the skse_loader.exe and run as administrator. Two, restart your system. This usually happens when Steam isn't running, but isn't always the case. If the administrator trick works, right click, properties, compatibility, set to always run as administrator, then apply or save and it should be permanently fixed.

That's weird, the administrator trick is from the SKSE mod devoloper in the readme.txt. To verify SKSE is installed and running. Run the skse_loader.exe and load a save file. Then hit the keyboard button "~". This should bring up the console, type "getskseversion" without quotation marks and hit enter. If you get a version number it's running.

@@TheMorokei It shows 2.0.19 is running. To be clear, when you start the SKSE version it should have a load screen indicating SKSE is running? I haven't run Skyrim in a couple years and IIRC it was like that before.

Yeah, I think they should have done something like enbseries. Just a small text somewhere on the main screen. Glad it's running, I thought my guide broke already 😂. I think Windows 7 had something, but I can't recall. When in doubt blame windows 10.

I followed all your steps and installed everything just as you said to do and it will not work. When I click on play in Steam it comes up for a few seconds and then closes. EDIT: The problem seems to be with the Simple Knock SE mod. When I removed it then it would launch.
