Skoolie Roof Raise in 1 Week | Skoolie Conversion

After a long and tiring night at the Mint 400 race, we packed up and hit the road to California where we met up with @transcendexistence and @theoffgridskoolie to help with a roof raise for @almostfamoustour87 skoolie conversion.
This roof raise was a 12 inch raise with the cut above the windows. With a project that usually takes several weeks, we were able to accomplish it within 5 working days.

Wow.... this is the first time I've seen a raise done by cutting above the windows. Cool. It might be handy to add some small RV windows in those sections above the bus windows (assuming you plan to put them back in) to give better sight lines to taller folk inside.

My son and I will be building our skoolie with my parents and some friends as soon as this craziness is over and we can buy our bus, and I would love to do this, but it just seems way too complicated for me. It makes such an amazing difference, though. I hope it makes sense to me soon enough to do it. This one looks great.

think this way of raising the roof makes it eazier to keep the electric cabling for the rear of the bus original , the windows are sitting lower though , allways figured to add the extra height under the windows so they go up too , gives a bit more privacy and probably makes the buss look nicer from the side if you use the original windows i do see that it can make problems for emergency doors and the front part of the bus , on the other hand you could leave the construction of that alone and drill out the rivits around them only raising the sheetmetal at those points

My girlfriend and I are planning out our roof raise. I haven’t seen many videos about the adjustments for the electrical that runs along the corners and the roof raise mechanisms are used a lot but not many videos about where to get them or how to make them. Any pointers or recommendations on the process?

Colorado Custom Coachworks made them. Otherwise, you can make your own out of square tubing, but then you have to weld on angle iron to each side. We just found it quicker and easier to have someone fabricate them.

Hey so I am 18 and moving away to college and thought this would be an ideal thing for me. I would much rather have a converted bus than pay my college or and apartments for years while I live/go there. If I did the work leading up to it just like they did when you got there, could you help me raise it just like that but 24 inches instead? How much would that cost for you to help me?

That's the beauty of the world man. Everyone wants things their way. This is what the owner wanted and we were happy to oblige. If we all did the same thing or only one way it wouldn't be fun anymore and we would all be looking on how to be different than the next guy. Thank you for watching. It was a full 12 inch raise with 2 more inches tucked under the rain gutter for the rivets to hit.
