The latest Skoda Superb is a stylish family car that’s available as a hatchback or an estate. The facelifted 2020 model represents a subtle redesign, and there are technology updates and a new plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. Inside, the Superb is still one of the biggest family cars you can buy, with plenty of space for even the tallest passengers in the rear and a boot that’s larger than those of all its rivals. We run through its best and worst bits.

    I have a 67 plate SEL Exec tourer in quartz grey, have the 1.4TSi DSG and opted for pan roof, Kessy, heated wheel with paddle shift, ambient lighting and 18 inch pegasus alloys. I am 3 years and 6 months into my ownership and this week passed 36,000 miles. My experiences are as follows, car is amazing, dealers are poor. Thankfully my visits to dealers was a faulty water pump and the 3 annual services. I find the car very comfy, its great on fuel and I honestly think id have spent more on running costs had I chose a Fiesta/Polo. I haven't touched the brakes yet, I had two front tyres at 29,500 miles (July 2020) and thats it. I fill the car from near empty (£80-85 of petrol), if I'm driving a little keen I see 550 a tank, but most tanks pass 600 miles, if I take the car on a couple of long drives Northampton to Yorkshire, 2 hours each way, I have seen a return of 700 miles. I have to change my car in Sept as I took it on a private lease, I keep thinking about all sorts of cars, and I can see myself going for another Superb, mainly because a BMW will cost way more at the dealership for its annual service, it won't return the same MPG, the Mercedes seem to have reliability issues, Audi is more expensive version of what I have, Ford just not as interesting, Vauxhall.... worth nothing when your finished with it..... Superb is best all rounder!

    Have had 3 Superb's My current one is a 22 plate Diesel estate DSG. Lovely car. Excellent fuel return, 50-65 a gallon . quality finish, and plenty of safety features an 'toys' including reversing camera. . Only complaint is the steering lock is poor. You have to be careful on tight junctions, on country roads where I am, and place the car wide to get around a tight junction. Other than that, as you would say, Superb. Fully recommend to anyone.

    Kia may have a 7 year warranty but they would need to actually look at your car when left in for it to be affective 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I wonder why car manufacturers generally offer shorter warranties in Europe than in the States. For instance, Hyundai and later Kia built their brand based on 10 year/100,000 mile warranties and VAG lagged behind for a while but within the last few years have gone to 7 year/I forget the mileage (possibly 100k?). The only companies that I think still lowball at around 3 years/36,000 are the ones that can get away with it because of earned reputations of building reliable cars, i.e. Honda and Toyota.

    You forgot that the skoda SUPERB IV didn't pass the Moose test so its a bit low on safety

  • @eyeeyeoh

    @eyeeyeoh

    4 жыл бұрын

    The moose test does not represent anything these days. Many cars pass just because electronic stability control features break at first part of manoeuvre almost up to a stand still. Many cars fail just because they are heavier and bigger cars these days. It is still a safe car to drive, it just isn't meant to be steered like a sportscar. Superb has far far worse downsides than that.

    What a crap... Tax on 2.0tdi is only 20£... Bmw and audi ahead with look yes and price even more. You can like it or not but why better quality than mondeo (I drive ford), lots of space and headroom (mondeo at the rear its a joke), boot min 100l more than any other in this class

    Very noisy suspension. Even with DCC. Poor braking performance. Bad interior quality, even the L&K, stitching on the leather is all over the place. Bad voice control, absolutely useless. Bad steering wheel controls, the buttons are falling apart. Still OK car for the price, and with 272hp engine it is even a fast car in a straight line from a standstill up to 100mph maybe.

    Have you had the factory suspension bump stops removed? They accidentally left them in on quite a few cars. They used them for transporting the car before sale. Mine had them left in and I thought the car was great but crashy around the ride. Once removed it was a totally different car.
