DSG gearbox is tuned to prevent that initial launch to protect the twin clutch system. Once it picks up there is no stopping. Hence it will anytime win over honda city.

That's is call dsg lag. Just to prevent the wear and tear of clutch plate they will blunt low end but in higher models such as tiguan and kodiaq they have launch control so they launch much aggressively.

Slow start of slavia till 80-90kmpl is due to DSG power lag and as TC engines delivers their peak power quite early at nearly around 4000-4500RPM but the NA engines deliver peak power little late nearly around 5500-6500RPM, that’s why Slavia delivered more power after initial low pickup and could achieve 100kmph earlier than City. Second reason for Slavia’s late power is due to DSG, there are 2 clutches operating to have minimum power loss, time lapse or none between gear shifts, this same tech is used in formula one racing cars as well but they are expensive to maintain and complex. City’s CVT is pulley based continuous and linear power delivery which is very suitable for the purpose of this car - comfort and powerful. City is a “No Disappointment, No Nonsense” car for powerful classy rides. BTW Honda WON Formula 1 racing 2021 (Max Verstapoen) and have broken Lewis Hamilton’s (Mercedes) winning streak, I think of 7 or 8 continues winnings

@@Moonlight-hq3gi hhhhmm, I own City, reason is 99.999999% driving RPM are 2000 or below to maintain 80-90 kmpl max. so turbo is not a fancy at all, it’s an overhead and maintenance liability with 3 cylinders as compared to 4 in NA which actually are useful under 99.99999% of driving range of 2000 RPM or below.

correct both are legends

Turbo charged engines (1.5 tsi on Skoda) have to be revved above 1800rpm to get the turbo kick in, while naturally aspirated engine(1.5 ivtec on City) are ready to go from the very first gear at any rpm.

Sir One thing I don't like in Kushaq which I just felt during window opening and closing; yes the cacophonous sound of the motor. That means window switches are of similar types of Kushaq and are of low quality. In City window switches on door handle are properly lit and feels premium. Yes Slavia is having performance but we expect some premiumness from 20 lakh rupee car.

although the cvt is not even close to the dsg's but still this new cvt gave a close competetion to slavia's dsg according to both the engine the honda has i-vtec so it has not turbo lag as the slavia has the honda performs best after the i-vtec kicks in and then no one is even close to the midrange and topend of city the slavia is turbocharged so it has a lag lowerdown but the midrange of these tsi motors are incredible i owned honda's civic and recently purchased the skoda octavia these engines the ivtec and tsi are the best engines but they perform well with a manual as thats where their true characteristics appear

No no this is not reason ,major reason is that early days dsg failures were common so vw groups has changed its tuning and slowed it for aggressive launch because gearbox don't become hot and damage to increase reliability

Traction control needs to be turned off in Slavia to get optimum drag speed

Slavia has DSG gearbox, and in DSG gearbox there is not wheel spin but on the other hand the Honda City's CVT gearbox does wheel spin so it launches before Slavia

Some of the known you tubers do drag race on public road without knowing the consequences of racing on public road , and think themselves auto experts.

The initial launch is crucial. Once you have a lead on indian roads, it is not easy to overtake even if you have more top speed.

No. 1.5l has more power and torque, that's why it won. As for shifting, a true CVT is always faster than any automatic transmission as it can always maintain the engine at maximum power band by changing ratio continuously.
