I just experienced the “shredding” while free motion quilting. I first re-threaded the machine and the bobbin. Happened again I took the stitch plate off to clean and discovered it was a burr on the stitch plate. The fine side of an emery board took care of it. However, I lost one of the screws LOL (not in the machine). I’ll be calling to place an order 😊

Thank you so much! I have used a TL 90 for close to 2 decades and it just now has started giving me fits with skipped stitches etc. Great brand!! I have learned more from this short video than talking to my local repair guy. Now I know what to look for to see what is causing the problem

I turned this video on and to my surprise, a familiar machine. I paused... I have a dx7 and it has started skipping stitches then progressed to shredding thread, and on to breaking needles... I was trying to finish my daughter's c'mas gift and thank goodness for at least 1 procrastination and I didn't give away my old machine. Wow, she's only in town a few days, so out came the basic B(rother). Once I figured out how to sew raising the presser foot by hand, with no speed control or needle positioner I was fine and finished sewing tons of minky fabrics without issue. So what do I need to do with my machine? It catches, shifts from side to side, goes wacky and shakes. There is a certified juki mechanic in my town so I'm thinking of calling them after the holidays. I'm sure there will be quite the wait! I might call the local quilt shops close by and see if they recommend anyone too. Any other ideas would be appreciated or fixes to try 1st. I still have a few things I need to make. Lol

I have more issues with my needle stand than when not. I've even used thread nets. I resorted to a big jar and it worked until it started the skipping, shredding, needle breaking mess I mentioned in another comment.

I just bought the small glide threads from you guys during the sale you recently had and I’m wondering what size spool cap I would be using? I didn’t even realize that was something to consider

I have a TL-2000Qi. Pretty sure I have a burr or two in places that I can only get to by working on the part that spins around the bobbin casing (a loose needle went in sideways, argh). I took off the feed dogs but could not get any farther. Do you have a video for the next step in taking apart this assembly, or is that just a step too far for us amateurs?

You guys rock! Here's my situation. TL2010q machine. I open it up and clean after every project. Fresh quality needle. Properly threaded. Aurifil thread, top and bobbin. It's doing this weird thing where the bobbin thread seems to catch on itself and tangle. Accompanied by a little almost clicking sound. It's been happening for a while. I've tried everything. Help me!! Please!

Clean machine with proper needle threaded correctly and skipped stitches still happen, mostly when a seam pressed to one side is sewn with a single layer or another seam. The next 2-5 stitches are skipped and then machine continues to sew perfectly. I have compensated by shortening stitch length to 1.8 or so and adding a layer of tracing paper over the seam and sew through it. Cannot send photo with poor weather/internet service🥴

My JUki TL2010Q usually sews beautifully. However, when I do free motion quilting, the thread starts to shred. The needle is splitting the thread as I’m sewing. Very frustrating! I use a hopping foot and a ruler with free motion. Quilting left to right and backwards is where the problem occurs. I’m using Superior Sewfine thread and a 80/12 needle. Any suggestions?

Might be a dumb question but I thought Glide thread was for embroidery, not the sewing machine??? I didn’t think the weight was right for a sewing machine??
