Awww. I'm glad you were blessed to have time with her.
Growing up in the 70's, we had one white family in our neighborhood. The girl, and I became besties! She would call my house and ask my mom, "Can my sister go with me to see a basketball game?" That was my first experience seeing a live basketball game, and she taught me how to play the piano in elementary. Good times! That was 46 years ago, and we're still friends to this very day.

This past weekend I was speaking to my gma about my great gma and she told me about how she would leave the city of Atlanta to go all the way to the Northside of town to take care of the white people's children while they were gone most of the time and she was pretty much like a mother to them. After she retired and those kids got older they would send her money in the mail periodically all the way up to when she passed back in 2002. Came to the funeral and gave my gma a pretty thick yellow envelope. RIP Eunice Dudley 💙

Yeah, he’s talked about this before, aside from the psychic. I’m afraid Skip and Ernestine were conned. A simple google search will bring up when he talked with Shannon about Katie Bell back in June of 2020, and he talked about her in an interview in 2013, before that. I first heard Skip talk about this even before that, but it wasn’t many times, snd I don’t remember if he named her. Point is, the psychic/medium manipulated Ernestine, because they had the information about Skip, and used it after she trusted them. Now they have a hook in Skip. Hopefully he’ll realize this, and the psychic won’t be able to use his memories of such a wonderful person to manipulate him.

This happens in some African countries too. Where nannies took care of white children like their own, pretty much have a strong bond with caregivers than their parents. Some parents were busy at work or not emotionally invested in parenting. So such duties were passed to the nanny. A lot of grown-up white people have that bond with their caregivers. What a beautiful testimony and thank you for sharing. I was blessed to have a wonderful Mexican lady named Vanessa who poured into my life and helped raise me to be the woman I am today. This experience has diversified my life and perspective and I am also empathetic to the plight of the Hispanic immigrant.
This is why I love Skip. He is REAL.

I can sense the admiration Skip has for Katiebell especially considering how his biological parents sort of left him out there. Katiebell WAS his mother. Very touching story Skip!
This is YOUR story Skip - don't hold back trying to speak it, especially with such a powerful woman as a role model. There will be people who want to twist this, but they are the ones always seeking to twist. For the rest of us we honor your love towards "Katie Bell" and the influence she had on your life. We should all be lucky to have a person like Katie Bell in our lives, no matter what race. That type of commitment, love, respect, and genuine caring is what we all need. I, too was raised in a family that saw no color. My Dad was from the back hills of West Virginia in coal mining county where he said everyone is on equal footing and poor had no color barriers. I could go anywhere as a child or adult and feel right at home, and felt being raised that way was a blessing. I am sure Katie Bell is watching over you, and no doubt listing to you honoring her life. Stay blessed!!
Skip, I can't help but let the tears flow. You're story about Katie Bell reminds me of my grandma. I called her momma. Only the Lord knows how much I miss that woman 🙌🏽💞 thank you God for letting me have at least one person to show me what unconditional love feels like. I don't know if I'll ever have that with another human being but I'm thankful that I did.

If she was truly an equal, she would have had a title-Ms. Katie Bell. If she was older than your parents you all should have NEVER called her by her first name! Also, what were her wages? Was she paid in accordance with her worth? Probably not. She was not a member of your family. She had her own family. You were blessed by the undeserved generosity of this woman.
Skip, I hope you read this. My grandmother was a "Katiebell" in Detroit. She started cleaning homes after migrating from the south. She ended up with a couple and raised their kids from toddler to young adults. She raised them like her own. I saw pictures of them on the on the wall with our family. I asked who they were and she explained. They were loved like we were. When I saw the movie "The Helped" it reminded me her. I could not believe they eat "soul food" and were discipline like us. That family really loved my grandmother.

Wow, I have tears in my eyes. what a wonderful woman that came into your life. the messages from the other side are so amazing to get. So glad she came to you to tell you all good things.
Thank you Skip. My granny Evalina was a 'Katie Bell', she was a maid/nanny for over 20 years in 1950s, 60s and 70s in Alabama and she raised many children besides her own 6. She told me stories when I was a kid about what it was like working for white families and I used to wonder if they cared about her beyond her being the maid. If they really appreciated her and loved her like her family did.
My only issue with this story is his view of equality and treating employees like family. This is an example with a healthy nuclear family. I wish I could find the link to a story I saw years ago about a family that had to let go of their full time nanny/housekeeper after a couple of years. It was because the father of the family grew to love her like family. He asked her what she really wanted for her life, she told him, and he helped her go to school and help pay for her college tuition so she could go full time. Truly loving her meant letting her go to fulfill her own dreams.
