'obviously cheaters tend to rank up quickly and cluster at high ELO' - I'd REALLY like to disagree with you there. I don't think that's obvious at all, especially if there's an apparatus actually banning them on occasion. I don't think they cluster. Skill levels vary for cheaters as well. Personally I would think most cheaters would be in the 4-7 range because that's where you start as a new account and they generally aren't around for the long-term.

Considering the rate at which they get banned is low, and the rate that they win (and by extension gain rank) is high, there is an argument for mostly high rated cheaters. As a low elo person myself (12k-15k depending) I can't say for certain I have encountered any cheaters. There has been some sus plays and people I could say MIGHT be cheating, but I have yet to play against a spinbot or an obvious waller. Side note I know what cheating looks like cause 10 years ago I was fucked around and found out. I have come to the conclusion that 3 things might be happening: 1) I am extremely lucky 2) The cheaters are not in my rank 3) The cheating problem is not as bad as people say it is. Skill issue.

Why are you not bringing up all the case opening KZreadrs as being a factor too? You are indirectly pouring fuel into the fire giving Valve zero reasons to fix the gameplay when you spend and influence several hundreds of thousands in case openings. And all the gambling/skinsite sponsors doesn't help the game too. It's a bit unfair pointing fingers on everybody else when you are, in my opinion, one of the biggest reasons why Valve isn't taking any actions.

i would like that steam would add an better version for trading in the steam ui . since i could easily trade skins for skins with other people , this is something missing after the csgolounge ban :/ some years ago .

Playerbase is up 4.3% over the last month, game is still growing and as long as that's happening, the skins market will remain stable.

I don’t get to play the game Much these days thank you for keeping people like me updated on the skins market

My highest rank in matchmaking is silver elite, and I still get atleast 1 very obvious cheater every 7-9 or so matches. And I'm talking spin bots and blatant wall hacks. So while it's nothing like the high elo lobbies with literal multiple cheaters in every lobby. The cheating problem is still VERY bad in the lower ranks.

This was a great video, but one thing I think you got wrong is by saying the skins market ‘isn’t a normal market’. It may not be a traditional market, but it is definitely acting like a normal market. NOTE, by saying normal I’m not saying it’s perfectly efficient, what I’m saying is that there is no outside party setting the price of skins, it’s all controlled by supply and demand. There can totally be inefficiencies in it, especially where there LACKS diversity of opinion, take the housing market in 2007, everyone said it could NEVER burst, but it did, there was a lack of diversity of opinion, same scenarios can be found with steam skins.

@@Klongfall during the stockholm sale..i brought 50 holos of most teams and had around team 30 golds and 5 simple gold 1000 of each capsules..mouz gave the most profit brought for less then a dollar i think was 80-90 cents each..sold it for 65 each..navi gave the least profit brought around 2.50 each sold for around 4..i could have made more if i had some patient..i got too excited and sold most of it..

Must be in Europe on higher ranks. My teammates and enemies are always either Indiana or Chinese players.

I think one reason why the player base is still growing with trust factor off is because. Cheats can more easily play with higher ranged people and the new legit accounts aren't forced to play with cheaters keeping them in the game

bit early to this but so done with cs2 its not getting fixed for months now

tldr big changes - people dislike the game/quit - sell skins - people who still like game/new players keep buying skins - prices stay the same / go up (also ban waves reduce supply - increased price on rare items)

I have met only one spinboter and i've been playing since 2022 (1500h). 90% of cheaters that i met had wh and aimlock at best. And i experience 1-2 cheaters in 5-10 games. The problem with cheating is the same as in csgo when you will stop playing premier and start playing comp.

I think it is also not dying because there is no panic sell like it was many years ago. Many ppl were panic selling top tier shit, and if someone panic sells items that costs the same as used car, someone who owns skins worth good bottle of vodka will also sell them. Rn there is no such behavior on market, yeah ppl quit Cs selling whole inventories rn but not on scale it happened before

You could basically get tf2 version of knife every case valve fix by letting people keep first one opened

A year ago I opened youtube and there is a guy who had live stream while cheating, I got his profile ID, report him , comment him, even added on my bookmark to report once in a while. Guess what, he is still playing....

Valve should open two games modes. Classic and sv_cheat. Like we had in past prime and no prime. In this case, whoever wants to cheat can use sv servers. Rest can play on classic. Also, bans should given on motherboard no just steam accounts. Job done 😊

Most of the playerbase sticks around because they feel like they need to give purpose to their investments. Those that never cared about their inventory nor the market don’t feel like they need to stick around, so they don’t.

Why would skins go down in price other than the average gun skins in cases you can spend thousands on cases and never get a knife or glove yet people think they should be able to buy a crazy pair of gloves or knife for a couple dollars 😂 even if you get lucky enough to pull a knife or pair of gloves it might not even be a good one or the one you want i dont see any issue with the price of skins
