First just want to say I like the idea of declutters in the empties video, I think it helps add to the picture of what's in/out and regular usage of products when viewed through an influencer lens. It's also just as, if not more, valuable than the empties in terms of determining comparative value. Aside from that I found the timing of the content interesting because I've finished off 7 products in the last 3 days (sunscreen, 2 moisturizers, toner, eye serum and 2 serums). Normally I don't think much of that (I have an uncanny ability to align empties by coincidence) but this year I've decided one time only to keep all the trash. While I could keep a spreadsheet, I just thought it would be interesting to see what accumulated and that my perspective may change looking at the collection after a year. 2 months in I have to say, this is the first time doing skincare that I really "felt" something about the amount of trash that's accumulating as a result of my personal use. I've always been mindful of the impact of waste on an intellectual basis, but it's a different feeling to lift of a bag filling up with empties. I'm not sure what kind of impact, if any, that sensation may have on my personal purchasing practices but it's interesting nonetheless, I also wonder if any of the makeup/skincare addiction Reddits suggest the practice.

Yes!! Yes you get it!! Way back, I swore off the idea of empties videos because I thought the concept of “saving my trash” sounded awful hahaha. Now I know that it really does put things into perspective. While I’m not fond of the amount of empty bottles I see, I think it’s played a role in impacting other decisions I make. Are you doing the full year or doing it seasonally/bimonthly?

Hi Alice, 🤗 chiming in to agree with your statement that hypochlorous acid is not bleach. Related chemicals, yes, but not highly diluted bleach. I think the science of how it differs is not explained well enough in most cases and it does matter how it’s manufactured. I also agree that it can be overpriced depending on how much effect it has. For my back acne, it’s been super helpful though. I buy mine directly from a local company that sells ultra pure and stable solutions. Now that I’m below the fold, time to ramble! I’ve been commenting less because I’m trying to avoid buying skincare or makeup this year. My cupboards are full! I don’t really have local friends who wanna inherit any of my “didn’t work out” stuff so I’m just working through everything I’ve bought in 2022. Every time I watch videos I’m tempted to buy stuff but I give myself a B+ for how well I’ve avoided shopping for the past 2 months. The less I engage on a specific topic, the easier it is to not get sucked in. But I don’t wanna be annoying and make comments that have nothing to do with the video!? But I miss chatting! So I’m sorry but I’ll have to start making long-a** comments again. 😆 I’m hangry and that’s clearly making me delirious. Hugs 💞

Oh wow, buying hypochlorous acid locally sounds like such a great solution! (No…pun intended? 🤣) Honestly, that’s so great to hear (though I share your conflict as I have indeed missed hearing from you lol!) It’s such a natural progression of things as a beauty enthusiast, UGH. I have this one drawer that especially reminds me of how conflicting this whole situation is: it is a drawer of highlighters lol!! Sometimes I hate it (as I almost never even wear highlighter anymore), but other times I’ll start sifting through it and remembering the excitement of that whole era (champagne pop. Ugh, champagne pop, what a source of memories from another time!) If you happen to stumble upon a way to indulge in beauty hobbies without feeling the need to add to “the collection”…please share haha! Stay well! 💕

I go as far as cutting the tube and I am able to get another 3 days to a few weeks of usage depending on the size of the bottle. I just finished Vanicream Daily facial moisturizer and Paula’s Choice glow mineral sunscreen. The Vanicream isn’t outrageously expensive but it would be nice to find a morning lotion that is cheaper and hydrating, but doesn’t pill over serums - seems like certain hyaluronic acid ones can pill - I like the idea of ceramides too, but I would rather put money into treatment serums than my moisturizer that goes over my serums to lock everything in. I’m telling you I really saw a difference immediately in my moisture barrier when I started using The Ordinary Amino acids serum and the Resveratrol Ferulic Acid serums twice a day (Resveratrol on top since it’s definitely heavier - I could probably use much less, as in a few drops, but I put it on heavier when I’m really dehydrated from too much retinol). Not only did my dry peeling skin disappear but my dried up spots that wouldn’t heal went away - my daughter said my skin looked good - and that’s a compliment! Do you use Adapaline and the benzoyl peroxide wash on the same days? Do you let it sink in before putting on lotion? Sometimes I don’t put anything on top, especially a glycolic face cream because I want the full effect (even when I use The Ordinary 2% retinol (oid?) serum - don’t want to dilute it, but maybe if it sinks in it will only protect me from being dry (although I’ve backed off when I start to see flakes unlike I used to keep going). I like this video concept and I like hearing how your thoughts have changed - is there something better, or have your needs changed and it’s not cutting it anymore? Whenever I see “hauls” in my feed I skip - not reviewing, just showing - I don’t care what people bought, and it just makes me wonder “what about all the other favorites? Will the be forgotten about until they expire, and where do you store everything?”

Why use adapalene when you use Tretinoin? That’s asking for barrier damage.

Hypochlorous acid is diluted bleach . DILUTED BY ALOT. technically bleach is sodium hypochlorite so definitely closely related more than laundry detergent and apple juice lol. Love your videos!

You just know that someone, somewhere, is going to hear it and go, “well I have bleach in my laundry room, can I just…DIY a toner?” 😱😱 Thank you!

Nothing to do with this videos but why stylevana's prices change from one day to another? A pyunkang Yul cream was 15$ in my chart yesterday and today is 25$ 🥲

I KNOW ughhh it’s so frustrating!! It’s why I quit including the prices on k-beauty in my videos. It might change the very next day 😭

@@AliceintheRabbitHole my chart went from 160 to 230 in one night, I guess you just have to wait for the right moment and check their Instagram for more advantages!!! ( The centella ampoule just arrived home so excited to try it)
