But you can get tested and safe products for hyperpigmentation. Like tranexamic acid, it's great for the purpose and works safely even on deep skin tones. No need to use the harsh and toxic stuff. And sunscreen! Even darker skin benefits from SPF because it will prevent hyperpigmentation caused by UV light.

It’s lowkey heartbreaking the way the female rapper remains in staunch denial at the end of the video when she’s confronted with the reality of what she’s endorsing. She’s determined to forever prioritize lighter skin over potentially dying or having her own skin rot away like that one poor woman’s. Then again, her denial is of the sort that revolves around not wanting to know- as if remaining in the dark about what those creams do will shield her from the reality. She herself admitted to having had an expert explain what the product contained but she can’t remember because she didn’t want to. The imagine of Beyonce on her blouse speaks volumes- aesthetics over health. I resist judging her though, as I have no idea what it’s like to be under that kind of cultural/racial pressure. The whole concept is so sad and I just hope she takes care of herself because I truly feel for people like Jeff and the lady that damaged her skin beyond repair. She must live in pain every day, I hope at least being treated for it can minimize that. I’m sure once people are past being truly helped, they do learn their lesson and shouldn’t be shamed- just use their stories as cautionary tales for others. That said, it’s great to see some South Africans embrace their beautiful, natural dark skin and promote it proudly as we saw in that photoshoot.

B P actually I know many of my white friends who hate being pale so they use sun beds. It is harmful as well. Black people lightening their skin is a result of white ppl making dark skin unattractive. It’s actually shunned in the Black community whereas tanning is embraced in the white.ive seen many comments saying “white women are not trying to be black” but tbh they like the aesthetic... they pump their lips, do curly perms to get hair texture and get their bums/ hips done. The white aesthetic was more popular in the 90s but since then the Kardashian’s changed the western beauty standards..which mimics BW.

As an Indian brown girl I deal with a lot of pressure everyday because of my skin tone....but with maturity, comes self acceptance... I've been so obsessed with looking lighter till the age of almost 17 years. After that I embraced my skin tone and deep inside I'm at peace with this. But you can't shut up society and the relatives. A brown woman feels happy to destroy a brown girl's spirit , I'm so done with it .

me too, I'm not Indian but I come from another Asian country in which fair skin is idolized. My skin are not light nor dark, average I guess. But social media always tell me about: how to have lighter skin, all the products, why lighter skin is better,... I'm grateful that now I'm educated enough so that I know my own values and never let those absurd beauty standard influence on me. However, in the past, I loved light skin as many other girls, and well at least I didn't risk my health to do all the insane skin-bleaching things. But out there many girls who are not mature and strong enough are damaging their own mental and physical health to become whiter. Such a sad reality.

The lighter skin doesn't even look natural here. It looks almost cadaverous in a sense. Simply Casket Ready. Just horrid. There is a level of liberation to be felt when the decision is made to love yourself in spite of the negativity. It's the best kind of love in my opinion.

Beauty is not in skin tone, it is in a healthy body, skin and the confidence one has about oneself. If one doesn't have that confidence, no matter how he/she looks, it will never look pretty. The problem with many people is the lack of that confidence. Skin color doesn't matter. What matter is health, hygiene, openness, comfort about self, knowledge, balanced thoughts, peaceful n relaxed mind. Any person carry those qualities is inherently beautiful.

Fair or dark skin is a norm in southeast asia.. it does not determine status or familical root, even one family can have dark and fair skinned members at once as what is in your family.. but often I heard the stress is real in the Philippines particularly for ladies. I think Filipino media brainwash is to be blamed.. they always pick fair skinned female as leading celebrities. But somewhere outside in foreign lands.. often I see the fair skinned and good looking Filipino ladies date dark skinned Indian men, some of the men could also be much elder or already married, yeah we know it's always about the money.. on the other hand we also often see dark skinned Filipino ladies with white, caucasian men.. and quite many of them are in serious relationship or married to each other. So life always has its blessings in return for those who are discriminated and it is never a right thing for a mother to compare her children especially on things that comes by nature.
