SKIMMER Enhanced Carry Trigger - Review
Ойын-сауық
We assess and review the Skimmer enhanced duty / carry trigger from Glock Triggers. We ran this complete system in my Glock 45 with good results. Noticeable improvement was the defined wall, smooth take up and clean break. For those looking for an improvement in their stock trigger while keeping the 5lb trigger pull, this might be a good option for you. In the coming weeks, we'll also review the Glock Trigger, "DEFENDER" designed for the G43, 43X, and 48.
From the Glock Triggers website:
The SKIMMER Enhanced Carry Trigger System is engineered from the ground up specifically for critical use. Manufactured using 100% OEM parts that are hand polished to a mirror finish, The SKIMMER offers both precision and reliability when the shot counts.
The hand refined, and carefully mated contact surfaces of The SKIMMER reduce friction and result in a smooth take up, transitioning to a predictable wall, and clean break. Our unique pre-travel reduction modification reduces the ‘slack’ at the beginning of the trigger pull and is non adjustable for consistency and reliability.
The SKIMMER Enhanced Carry Trigger system is available for most generations and models of Glock handguns including:
Gen 1-4 9mm/.40/.357 Models
17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35
Gen 3-4 10mm/45ACP Models (not GAP or G36)
20, 20SF, 21, 21SF, 29, 29SF, 30, 30s, 30SF, 40, 41
Gen 5 9mm/.40 Models (including MOS)
17, 19, 19X, 22, 23, 26, 27, 34, 45, 47

Interesting option that I had not heard of. Might be worthy of looking into for my carry .40 cal.

I think it’s a really solid option. Definitely a big upgrade from the stock trigger.
If I could subscribe more than once I would, and your content has always been great for a regular guy like myself who goes to the range fairly often & loves to shoot. I’ve been with your channel since 2014, and still here. 👍 - Jason/Freedom Fighter Until Death/Vermont, FRA (‘FRA’, meaning “The Failed Republic Of America”)

Hey Jason, thank you so much for your kind words. If you want to help promote the channel, I’d certainly appreciate it. The key thing is sharing it with friends and family and asking them to share it. That’s the way channels grow. I really appreciate your support support and interest in our contact. Stay safe, brother.
I’m definitely considering this a suggestion. What barrel do you have in that 45? It looks like a lantac?

This particular barrel is from radian Arms. It’s a barrel and compensator called ram jet and after burner. I absolutely love it. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Hay I appreciate the feedback I generally keep most of my stuff fairly stock, but I recently acquired an extra gen 3 Glock 17 that I’m going to have some fun with and use it to experiment with aftermarket components Along with a tactiCOOL cerakote job so maybe I will get into those compensated barrels at some point. I did go ahead and order one of those skimmer triggers this morning from Haley and I can’t wait to check it out!
Good information, will this work in my Glock 48 & 19 gen 5 ?

Yes it will. The one for the slim frame Gen 5 glocks is called the DEFENDER. We'll have a review on that in the next couple of weeks. The SKIMMER is designed for the 19, 17, 45 etc.

Its a 40 i don't carry it much but a glock 27 is snappy, i wonder if it would work in a shadow system

Good question. I think it would. Contact the compact Glock Triggers.
While I've (mostly) retired from training, I still have LEOs who come to me to keep their skills up. Most prefer to have their carry gun match their duty sidearm but like to punch holes in paper as well. In your opinion, would this trigger present any negative feedback when switching back to duty? Most of them dry fire on gear up so I would think not. They are not dedicated shooters and that hurts my heart.

Slip, there would be no issue in my opinion using this trigger and then the stock duty pistol. Basically the same weight, just a cleaner take up and more defined wall. Good to hear from you!

Thanks!
So you got the 5.5 connector with the kit or the 3.5 connector? I believe it sells with a 3.5 unless you specify 5.5 during the order comments. You shouldn’t be pulling over 5lbs with a 3.5 connector.

The Skimmer they sent me must be 5 pounds. The company sent me the Defender (for Glock 43x) and the Skimmer for the Glock 45.
I wonder if it would work in a glock 27 ?

I just looked at the Haley strategic site and they do have them for the Gen 3! They are $159 but I’m anxious to try it out!

Do you like this over the apex trigger?
How much does the trigger sell for ?

Too much for what it is

I believe it sells for between 150 and $160. Keep in mind the parts are all OEM and polished. Like any other product it really comes down to perceived value of the user.

Frankly, I would expect it would work in the shadow system pistol. Your best bet would be to reach out to Glock triggers and get their feedback. Based on the triggered design and the way in which it’s using OEM parts, I would assume it would work great. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
