I do want to say though it was some serious talent, wish they had waves....

It's too bad the waves weren't bigger, but we sure got a show on how to skim the small waves and make the best of it.

Yeah, those waves were so small. I don't know the rules on calling off a skim contest for lack of waves, but that had to be close to those conditions.

I was watching the contest on live video from my bed in Rosarito, but inmediately felt inspired and motivated to get up and move straight ahead to the beach for a skim sesh.

Awesome to see all of the competitors doing awesome stuff in not ideal waves

Both were gnarly but based off the footage I saw I would have gave it to Blair. I know he does not but did Weber ride for Vic then? If so makes sense a close Vic contest the Vic team rider gets the nod. Yes the wave was good but I would go more with consistency and tech than one great ride but like I said I have only seen the video posted on Blair's channel so I can't say for sure

@@loc9588 idk Blair got way more waves going frontside and backside which is huge when it comes to judging skimboarding. Johnny had that epic air drop. Other than Johnny’s air drop I definitely would have gave Blair the W. Johnny rides for Victoria so you have to take into consideration there was a bias when their heats were being judged . I remember back in the year 2009 I skimboarded in my first amateur division contest at the age of 17 and won best trick and got second place in my division for landing a huge air drop off a wave like Johnny did! I was so stoked that day considering I was competing against guy’s that were a lot better than me and had way more experience!

I was there, as a semiprofessional skim boarder, john destroyed that heat. A couple of his waves weren’t in the video. Both did insane for what the waves were though.

I dig watching good skimming! There should be a contest where guys have to skim and also surf a "normal" board - include online gambling and make a pay per view production! I will bet on Blair - ps I saw him skimming at Rincon once! Who does that?!

I actually won my first tournament at vero beach yesterday and got first place
