does this apply to mountain sleds? for example running SHR clutch on a stock 850 only adding a HPS can for weight savings and better sound. or is stock still better?

yes applies to mountain sleds as far as is the clutch kit better the feedback I have gotten is stock clutching is more responsive. You would have to be the judge dial the stock clickers correctly and put some ride time on then do the kit and see. As far as the can same deal dial stock clutching for best power and then switch to the HPS and see if sled pulls the same rpms on a long pull. You can also fine tune stock clutching with a simple ramp change.

What part of the clutch causes the clutch to engage at a certain RPM? I bought a 2017 skidoo 850 Etec summit X and it engages around 4500 RPM. Thanks

The primary clutch spring. The higher the fist number the higher the clutch will engage.

Is adding 970 ramps to a stock 850 an automatic improvement?

You can change just 1? I thought they all had to be the same

in this case I changed all 3 so a 150 rpm difference to show mph loss. YES you can change 1 to fine tune, only showed doing one to keep video short. Good question thanks

@@dynoport9251 isn't that going to cause uneven wear on the ramps?

@@SnowmobileHomeMovies No good question most people to not understand what the clicker actually does it moves the ramp a few thousandths to which in effect adds or takes away some weight to change the centrifugal force and rpms. The change all (3) is an old wives tale

@@dynoport9251 Perhaps you'd better share your information with the clutch engineering department at BRP. It is expressly advices not to change only one clicker adjustment, all THREE must be changed to read the same. Since there are only three, you risk throwing the clutch into an unequal balance, high vibration and potential to explode. Maybe it's time to listen to one of your old ex-wives one on this one before you hurt yourself. 🤣🤣🤣
