ANYTIME you're using a winch cable, a tow rope, or a chain to pull something, hang a large floor mat or blanket over the rope/cable/chain - it will absorb most of the 'shock wave' if/when the rope/cable/chain breaks... (and yes, even the 'elastic' tow ropes can break under load, and it's not pretty)

Having done a lot of winch pulls on the mountain what is better now is winch pull rope rather than "make your hands bleed wire rope". Directional pull when winching vehicles weighs less than stuck on is leverage; demonstrated with first two positions. My fully loaded with snow in bed F-250 could direct pull anything less than 7,000 pounds, directional could pull much heavier, like an small bulldozer sideways pivoting. Always stay hands and feet away from cable or rope, laying a chain over the cable can save a flying cable from coming through windshield or whiplash your legs, feet, head, etc. Great enjoyment watching your videos.

In my book, you couldn't want or expect a better hired hand on the farm. Gage probably felt really bad about the situation overall, but he was doing exactly what I would have been doing if I were in the seat. Sometimes things happen and luckily nobody was hurt and there was no machine destruction. Hang in there Gage, you are a keeper. I think Grant made that clear at the end of the video by actually going into the creek...........just to show no harm done buddy..... 👍👍

The typical life of a runabout boat is that the first summer it is in the water every weekend. The second summer in goes in Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor day. The third year it is put up for sail. It's a toy that needs to be passed on for someone else to enjoy.

Just a quick word of advice in case you don't know. When using winches, if you have a snatchblock bring the winch line back & hook to the bumper of the jeep & you can double the pulling power of the winch. If you have two snatchblocks, & another point to hook to on the skidsteer, you can make a 3 way & almost triple your pulling power of the winch. Might come in handy for future reference.😊

I'm no safety police but you 100% need to get yourself a weight mat (damper) for your winch line! If/when the winch line goes, it will cut everything in its path in half. With a weight mat, it takes all the energy out of the line, and it just drops.

@@herpes010 well, I guess you might just be the exception! There are studies which show the link of not only temporary exposure to loud noises over a certain decibel, but also repeat exposure over time (chronic loss). One day you just wake up and start hearing a ringing or crickets constantly chirping in both ears and you have Tinitus. No one can predict the outcomes for another person, in fact it’s a little bit presumptuous to believe that everyone will have the same experience as one’s own self. It’s up to Grant and Laura as to what they choose to do, but I think it’s wise to be on the side of caution - what could it hurt? Do you also disregard seat belts?

hi guys, couple of things. When you use a winch cable you should throw a coat or blanket over the cable near the middle. That way if the cable breaks it acts like a sail and kills the energy and snap. It could save a life (This is common practice but you never see it on TV, uggg) Second, Grant, have you made Laura aware of what Lockers do? What I mean is the sudden clunk when they unlock going down the road. It's loud and disconcerting. She should be made aware. I had several vehicles with Lockers (we called them Detroit Lockers)and they all did it. (unless you have one of those new contolled lockers) I had an older CJ5 Jeep I tricked out. A different shade of blue. I put in low gears too 5:38 or 4:88 I don't recall) And a Locker in the rear and a Posi-track in the front. It would grunt over anything. Just a 4 banger. Enjoy your vids. cheers.

Buy the cheapest toilet bowl cleaner you can get and dilute it with water in a bucket, then use long handled plastic scrub brushes to clean the bottom of the boat. The toilet bowl cleaner eats all the algae off the hull really well. It also works really well on aluminum pontoons too !
