Great comparison. Thanks. Last season i got to demo the 176cm maverick 88 ti vs the 180cm declivity 92ti and my 186cm enforcer 88. I loved the declivity 92ti everywhere. The maverick was the best in the bumps but i think it was the shorter length. My 186cm enforcers I bought too long but they were the most damp and the best in bad snow. Of the 3 I liked the declivity the best, followed by my enforcers, then the maverick. The maverick just felt a bit light and "carbon fibre pingy"compared to the others. The season before I got to ski the previous version of the kendo, before it had the multi radius sidecut. They were stiff and had incredible grip and edge hold but they weren't much fun to play around on. Its like they were telling me to stop playing around and get back to work. My mantra M5 were more fun and lively.

Would have been perfect to have a Rossignol Experience 86Ti and Salomon Stance 90 tossed into this comparison, to get your perspectives.

If you are spending a lot of your time off trail, you might like the Maverick 95 better than the 88. Maverick does a great job at feeling really stable on trail while also being super fun and nimble off trail. Maverick is a great choice for someone who loves on and off trail skiing the same.

The maverick 88ti is one of the skis I’ve considered. I’ll bounce my question off you. I’d consider myself breaking into intermediate territory. 260lbs, mainly on groomers but find myself following my son into some trees and ungroomed trail sides. I’ve looked at the maverick 88ti, blizzard rustler 9, ripstick 96 black, k2 mind bender 90c. Favorite mtns are Cranmore, king pine, sunapee, pats peak. What are your thoughts? Any other skis I should consider?

Those are all great skis, a lot of them live on our top tested list. The Ripstick 96 black and Blizzard Rustler 9 are the standouts of the bunch. They both offer a ton of groomer performance while still being nimble and agile off trail or on some more technical terrain. I would avoid the k2 and the maverick if you’re planning on spending time in the trees, they’re good, but not great in those scenarios. Go Ripstick 96 black for one of the most well rounded skis that is incredible on trail and has a more directional feel. Go Rustler 9 if you want a more playful feel and want an easy ski in the trees but still need grip and power on groomers.

@@TheSkiMonster thank you for your input! One last question. I’ve heard here and there the ripstick black can chatter when pushed too far. Not that I’m ready to push to that point but is this something you have experienced? Between the ripstick and rustler is there one that initiates a turn better?

    Maverick vs stance vs ranger?

@alex_sede, Stance will be the most demanding of these options. It’s powerful and stable on groomers but more work off piste or on technical terrain. The Mav 95 has a similar level of power to the stance but is more agile, nimble, and maneuverable. The Mav is still an awesome ski on groomers and arcs a mean turn. It just has a greater power to weight ratio compared to the Stance. The Ranger is the most capable off trail and in softer snow compared to Mav and Stance. It’s a more playful ski so it lacks a bit of power next to the other two options but is the best choice for skiers looking to optimize performance off trail. The Ranger can still hang on a groomer it’s just less precise and doesn’t offer the same level of grip. Go Stance if you like to charge on groomers. Go Mav if you ski all over the hill, want solid grip on groomers but enough agility to handle some off piste scenarios. Go Ranger if you want a playful ski that can hang on a groomer but comes alive off trail and in softer snow.

Is the Maverick 88 ti too lightweight for a 200 lb advanced intermediate skier?

Not necessarily two of our testers are over 200, athletic and really powerful skiers.
