Skews me while I Make a Snowman
Here I woodturn a pair of the World's smallest snowmen, and turn them into earrings!
Using a piece of 3/8" poplar dowel, I make a quick pair or icicle snowmen. The snowman part of the earing is only 1/2" tall.
“Many of the woods I use are from trees that are cut down for construction. This is wood that would otherwise be burned or end up in a landfill.
To me, it is exciting to find the hidden beauty in a chunk of wood. Even a very plain piece of wood offers design opportunities. When working with plain wood, I often enhance the wood by carving or burning. My carved and burned designs mimic textures and patterns found in nature.

"Skews me" ... excellent 😁 ... I'm absolutely sure that this is the smallest thing I've ever seen turned ... you'll now need to make mini chisels so that you can make an even smaller pair 👍

Never turned a snowman near that small. Need a ton of practice to do it with a skew. Very nice job!

Very neat little project Heather - nicely done! Have you ever tried wrapping your fingers under the tool rest to support the dowel with your fingers to reduce the vibration? Merry Christmas! 😊

I have done that on a few occasions. This dowel had a curve in it though. It wasn't vibration at the start of the video. Thanks for watching ❤️
