@@CGJuicer Thank you for sharing this, on other hand, here is a work flow from Unreal Engine (UE) - DataSmith sketchup importer, saving skp file to datasmith, then import to UE, if there is changes in skp file, then save to datasmith again, re-import/relink to UE, the good thing is, UE ONLY update whichever have been changed, any other object still the same, is there a way to intergrate with this function?

FYI, don't unzip the folder from the description. Just save it somewhere and click it in the addon window in Blender.

so that's what the problem was. ridiculous.

Please check your sketchup model, make sure you put materials on the front faces, not on the backface. After fixing that, re-import it to blender to see if it works.

Halo kak, untuk MacOs bisa pake versi 0.20 | github.com/martijnberger/pyslapi/releases/download/0.20/sketchup_importer_0.20_macOS.zip | Compatible sampai dengan file SketchUp 2019.3. Sebelum tekan tombol import skp, coba naikan dulu parameter Tresholdnya, misalnya jadi angka 1000, baru import skp nya. Jika nanti masih ada kendala, bisa diinfokan lagi kak 👍🏼

I found errors in mine "line 886, in execute context" "line 245 in write duplicateable groups" "line 640 in component def as group" "line 614 in component def as group ob.layers" , "AtributeError: 'Object' object has no attribute 'layers' and they wont import. If you're still getting the error try to increase the threshold of “Instantiate When Similar Objects Are Over” to 1 million (which is 50 by default), you might able to import your SketchUp file.

I followed the tutorial and downloaded file. When I goto user preference and install the *.py file, you can only select __init__.py? and after that I cannot see it in the blender add-on menu.

Oh I got the same problem. What I did is move the entire downloaded file (without extracting) to the same place as blender file (in drive c for me) and then when you open blender you'll see the entire file in the install add ons part.

Yes it does. I'm using 2.92 and it still working. I always import Skp 2017 version. For big file size, I always increase treshold parameter value berfore hit "import skp". It almost works everytime for me.

@@CGJuicer how you get it to work/install with 2.92? It's fine with 2.90 but in 2.92 when I try install it say modules installed ( I search and they say I have . so I try change it to _ but still didn't work) then I try install manually at add-ons folder and now it's say I have multiply add-on with the same name one from add-on that I just install manually another from somewhere in my appdata no matter where it is it's still not let me import skp so now I can import only a headache! please help

я так огорчен что у меня не работает данный плагин. у меня blender 2.82a я сохранил файл sketchup в 2017 версии и все равно мне это не помогло(((( при этом ваш файл skp который я скачал с gumroad открывается как это возможно? помогите пожалуйста разобраться.. у меня sketchup 2020. попробовал еще раз сохранить в версии 7 , первый раз не открыл, второй раз открыл юпи!!) странно но теперь экспортирует и файлы сохраненные в скечап 2020 ... не понимаю почему он не открывал их до этого... вот теперь снова не открывает ни один из файлов.... какая то магия.... он хочет открывает, не хочет не открывает так не должно работать! пришел к выводу что в сохраненном файле skp обязательно должна быть сохранена одна сцена. иначе блендер не откроет ее

Sorry, what do u mean imported plugin? If you mean that you can't find installed plugin/add-on. You can use Search feature (Preferences > Add-ons) then find "SketchUp Importer" and enable it. But, If you mean that you can't find imported object after importing the skp file. Try to save the skp file to skp2019 or earlier. Then re-import it to blender, and make sure you increase the treshold paramater from 50 to 1000 before hit "Import Skp" button. This workflow works for me most of the time. Good Luck!

If you already have the previous version installed, first uncheck the addon in preferences, close and relaunch the blender program, go to the addon section in preferences, remove the skp importer, then install the latest version of skp importer (currently v0.23.2)

I recommend Mac users to install both of latest blender and Blender 2.79b (Portable version is okay). 1. Install skp importer to Blender 2.79b 2. Import skp to Blender 2.79 3. Copy all imported objects 4. Paste it in Blender 2.9 or Blender 2.8 Last year, I used to do this workflow, when skp importer was not compatible with blender 2.8, both of Windows and MacOs. I think this workflow is better than exporting the skp to .dae or other format. Latest Add-on for MacOS : github.com/martijnberger/pyslapi/releases/download/0.20/sketchup_importer_0.20_macOS.zip

0:24 Try to increase Treshold to 1000 (on the right panel) before hit IMPORT SKP, hope it'll fix the problem. By the way, that's not my plugin, that's created by Martijnberger and developed by Arindam on Github, I found it on a Blender forum and share it here. Because it help me a lot.

@@CGJuicer It worked but only in some projects. Bigger projects (like 400 MB) when hit "export" do nothing. Like there's no reaction. After exporting i can just use blender as always like export button was never touched.

It doesn't work in Blender for Linux :(

It seems that currently the addon is compatible up to blender version 3.0. fyi, alternatively, you can import skp model to blender v3.0, then copy all of imported objects to newest blender version.

You need to have two versions of blender to do that, Blender 3.0 & Blender 3.1, install the addon in Blender 3.0 (not 3.1), then you can do what I said before. (I personally, currently stick with blender 3.0 for some reason)

@@CGJuicer Have you got any idea why when i import sketchup file, everythink is okey in object mode, but when i switch to edit mode, in object appears random edges that werent in sketchup. I dont want to remove them one by one. Thank you.

@@groza7367 Me too haha. It's because SketchUp & Blender has different way to treat the mesh/geometry. I'm using this workflow for rendering purpose only. So I'm just ignore it. Nobody will see the random edges in the final render. I've never use something like mesh cleanup plugin, so I don't know if there is a magic tool to clean this nightmare.
