I could never draw anything in my life, all was always like scholar first grade 😅. After i found her channel, 2 days ago, i was encouraged to try my first drawing and watercolor painting and it turned out surprisingly good !! Loved your sketch ❤ I also like you keep things simple… timer, brushes, paint etc. & your desk isnt cluttered w/too much stuff that isn’t art related. My favorite brushes are Princeton velvet touch. Thanks for the tip about the filbert brush. I wasn’t sure how to use it. 😊

I followed along and did the same line work and watercolor. I love how it came out, exactly what i have been trying to accomplish. One thing I noticed about your style is you do lots of little pen marks that really add a lot of character. Little marks on the windows and doors for example, they add a lot . I have found that I do a good job with the loose pen work, but I have a hard time interpreting what colors to use, what to leave white. On my own works I end up using too much color, filling everything in and I'm not happy with the result. I need to figure out how to loosely add the color. Thanks for sharing, you're helping me progress.

Pretty commendable sketching. To sketch directly with a pen versus a sketch pencil is very brave. 👍 ...I don't think you failed. Infact you created your own signature with this art work. The last stroke which u added after the timer was up was funny 😁I adore ur artworks and i have started to learn from ur videos🥰😍 As u asked about fav brushes for the paintings i make i like to use small tip brush cause my hand get a little shaky and i m a little impatient too so that's why😅

You’re brave for sketching in ink! I usually sketch in pencil but this seems more freeing 😍 gonna try this soon!!

Thats why it’s an excercise , I would problably struggle with time too. But I’m going on holliday soon and I’m planing on being able to sketch and paint.

It’s a quick sketch, it’s GREAT, imho; don’t obsess. It’s a “sketchbook”. Try to remember no one is looking at it but you. Out and about urban sketching during a short time means forget a bunch of small details (no time to draw then paint all that) unless they’re the main subject. Everything but buildings move. At home from a pic, different story. You can go for it. 😊 Timing it is a very good idea, it helps develop a sense of being on site where you don’t have all day to get something on the paper. (Unless it’s your day off or something) My general to go kit includes a travel Rafael 3/0 and a Pentel water brush. (Also that itty bitty brush that comes in a Sennelier 8 tin. That brush is like a rigger. Just don’t sneeze or you might lose it. 😅😅😅) The black pallet and 2 pens. Small/medium sketchbook. That’s it. At home I have a few favorite brushes … I like those Princeton Snap brushes and small sized mops with sharp tips.

My goal is to draw store fronts such as this. Such beautiful work and it flows so comfortably. I have been struggling with a fruit market I saw in Paris so this sort of work might help. Thanks.

Don't beat yourself up over not completing it in 20m its a great drawing and you've got the looseness down, I struggle with that too

LOVE this! Can you show how you loose sketch a landscape/nature scene, instead of an urban scene? I would loooove to see how you translate your amazing style and technique to drawing a naturescape like mountains or something!

For this piece? In simple terms, you can try drawing the outline of the main structures first, then divide it up into smaller parts according to the reference. Hope that helps!

If you can provide a copy of the image you're drawing from this would be helpful to draw along and join in on the challenge. This way we don't copy exactly what you are sketching but can make our own observations and likeness to a sketch and follow along with the painting. I've enjoyed watching your process and would love to follow along if you provide the image.
