Skeptical Atheist Secular Humanism in Canada.
When I was invited to speak at the Shift to Reason conference in Regina Saskatchewan, other secular Humanist skeptical atheist groups asked me to hop over to a couple cities in Alberta while I was in town. Thanks to the Society of Edmonton Atheists, Center For Inquiry in Calgary, and the Mount Royal University Secular Humanists, the Brainstorm Podcast, and also British Columbia Humanists for collaborating on this tour.
When the entire city of Fort McMurray had to be evacuated, we were not that far south of there, in Edmonton. Each of the groups I met with, in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver, all took up collections for relief funds. That's because they're not just skeptical atheists; they're secular humanists too.

Another bad speaking foreigner for you. I am Dutch and when I was young (somewhere in the last century and internet was not even a concept) I thought that I and some family members where the only atheists. Now about 25 percent of the Dutch are atheist. Last time religion played a role in our country was in the 70's when abortion was legalized. Yep, we are winning. Get your education in order and your country will as well.

Great talk. We really liked having Aron come to Regina. For our little secular community having some great speakers from the atheist community was a big deal and had a huge impact on the motivation for all of us to keep active in our pursuit of actual church, state separation. It was great meeting you and Lilandra. Thanks for coming.
I was so going to be at your Edmonton show, but then I spent 3 days in the hospital because my fiance's appendix needed removing.
Aron, brilliant as always, and that's a FACT! Thank You! Once I tried to have an intelligent discussion with a religious person about scientific reality. No matter what good evidence or analogy I used there was no way for that person and his groupies would even consider anything else but there false beliefs. I thought about that situation and tried to look for ways to unlock there stubborn dismissals, and came to the reasonable conclusion that their minds were not open but locked shut by the "key of faith".

Aaron has changed my life for the better. It wasn't easy to think the world without a God but after doing my own investigation I come out the other End happier and now convinced that I was only reading books of fantasy and fables and now look to the future with a entirely clear outlook. Thanks to Aaron Ra for clearing my mind of clutter. Aussie Chrisso 🤠😇

When I clicked on this video I got a ad from Scott Sullivan claiming that 60-90% of kids leave Christianity as they go through school. Man that would be awesome if that was true. He claims to have reason based answers that you can use to equip your child against critics of christ. I'm really curious what they are and if they're any different from the usual claptrap I see believers try to use.

The fact the vast majority of people still think Atheists need to prove there's no god while Theists don't need to prove there is one shows that won't happen for a long time
When in conversations, I ask a question followed by "I know you don't have the actual answer, but an opinion and I'm okay with that. But I'd like to hear it" "If God does in fact exist, and man created evil, why would God have created hell in order to punish mankind?" Seems to me that God would have to create evil and free will in order to creare hell in order to punish sinners
If a religious person starts talking about death, I say this - "You are death obsessed but I deliberately choose to be Life Obsessed. Life is good, right?" Or something similar.
Awesome talk, wish I could have attended. Thanks for the video.

I am an Atheist, of course. I don't do the action described by the verb - "to believe in," because it is logically flawed. . Believing in anything stops you from perceiving that thing accurately. For example, people who believe in The Economy do refuse to consider the flaws in the definition of GDP.

He seems to really think that enough people will donate to charities and to volunteer at soup kitchens etc. that everything would be fine if we eliminated welfare and food stamps and Medicare etc., he seems to think there wouldn't be rampant abuse and human rights violations and virtual slavery on the part of corporations if we did away with laws and regulations. It is completely irrational to think a vibrant, successful nation can be maintained with virtually no laws or regulations and a method of enforcing them.

If the god of the bible had been portrayed as a king instead of a God , he would be remembered as the most evil, mass murdering, tyrannical dictator of all time! Christians give the bible god a free pass because, they say, he is god the creator. I don't see the difference whether man or god. If his actions were evil or immoral, as the bible states, then he'd be just as guilty of being evil as any human committing the same deeds.
Why did you condemn and mock the concept of subluxation? Isn't a subluxation a partial dislocation of a joint? EDIT: Oh, it seems there's something called "vertebral subluxation," which is an unproven concept in chiropractic. I assume you were referring to that?

There's variations and exceptions, but libertarians have some notion that if society doesn't have some governmental-enforced Minimal Level Of Human Decency, things would be a lot better.

They also believe education should be privatized, and those who were born into poor families shouldn't have education except Google which is heavily unreliable. "Humanist" is used very derogatively in every church I attended growing up and in my young adulthood. Aron Ra is the epitome of what a National Treasure is.
Aron is one of the greatest men alive today.
I already knew the Bible was full of nonsense and contradictions (because I actually read it once) but I always learn something new from AronRa. Since I was 13 years old I have been unable to understand how anyone can read the Bible and not immediately see that it is pure mythology. I guess it takes either a complete lack of effort (pure lazy blindness) or an incredible amount of effort (apologetics and interpretation) to believe in a bunch of impossible fairy-tales.

+1955RodHot I think it is hard for some people to let go of the idea they will live forever and accept that death is the end.. with no afterlife. That is a pretty scary thing for a lot of folks who have been raised since birth to believe they will never really die. That fear can drive a lot of desperate beliefs.
@snate56
5 жыл бұрын
That's because, you, at 13, had probably already read mythology, fairy tales, science fiction, etc. Then you pick up the bible and can see the similarities. Someone born into a strict religious family is shielded from that and fed the bible before they are allowed to see what's outside.
"The way that it's supposed to be read: You can either eat of the fruit of the tree of eternal life and live in child-like innocence forever or you can eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and you will become aware. Your eyes will be open. You'll grow up." I thought it was an etiological myth attempting to explain why crops grow, why pregnancy hurts, and why snakes have no legs? How can this story be a metaphorical parable and a literal etiological myth, at the same time?
sad no one laughed when he said "and they don't respect your authoritah" at 7:39 I get it's important speech, but no one? I'm mostly joking ofc, as I love this man and I'm glad that the speech helped quite a bit from what I've been reading.
Aron speaks about knowledge and facts. The religious have neither to back up anything in their holy books.
I never heard of these misrepresentations of the Bible. Maybe they are specific to American Christians?

+Slevin Klevra It also makes one wonder: If God is so adamant that we cut off our foreskins, why would he create us with foreskins in the first place?
@DJ8017
8 жыл бұрын
That can easily be explained by Christians saying "god wanted us to obey him and to be mark as his chosen people"... BUT, then they would have to explain 1 Samuel 18:27 about how "David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins. They counted out the full number to the king so that David might become the king's son in law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal to David to be his wife." So, are the Philistines David killed now marked as "god's chosen people"? What kinda sick bastard goes around killing men, then cutting the ends of their dicks off all day? What kinda sick dick measuring bastard god would require on the judgement seat of Christ, to have men whip their dicks out? The story is so beyond ridiculous its hilarious. You want to really piss off door to door evangelists, read this story to them. I've deconverted missionaries by pointing this out. You should have seen the red faces of their wives when I read them what their own "holy book" says. They just can't handle the dick measuring. Hahahaha
18:55 "Is God praying to himself whem he's by himself?" Yes. (Matthew 14:23)
The serpent isn't Satan though. If you read the Bible he's never actually referred as such in Genesis. In fact the whole concept of Satan isn't really well defined in the Old Testament. "satan" is just a Hebrew word meaning "adversary", so it's not even really clear whether it's always referring to the same reoccurring character. Like is the "satan" of Job even a "Lord of Lies" or is he just some random guy who questions Job's faith? Really there's no blatant contradiction between Genesis and Job if you just read them as what they are. When you factor in the New Testament and the later doctrine like God's omniscience/omnipotence, Satan (which by himself contradicts omnipotence), etc. then yeah it becomes a mess.
