Is skepta anything other than a imitation of U.K. Jamaicans ? No all non Caribbean grime musicians are doing the same. Same with Afro swing and most of Afro Beats

Hearing Skepta's unadulterated confidence about himself as a producer is everything. I just think back to when he was on OTHERtone with Pharrell in 2015, pre-Konichiwa... And there was confidence but it wasn't this!! I love it!
Skepta is so legendary and still a WizKid closest friend ❤️
No way he’s gonna retire he’s always Gona have one foot in, just like what’s he’s done the past 3 years.
Even watching him in an interview, I feel his energy👀 True legend💯

Yes and his rapping voice is perfect. I don’t buy his music if I’m honest, I actually don’t really buy any new music. I have 1500 odd vinyl and I listen to new music on KZread but even so, Skepta will always be 1 of my all time favs. He’s just the perfect rapper imho. That ic3. Song with Ghetts is fucking sick and once again, Skepta sounded perfect and perfect flow. 👍

different genres. When I was around 14. U.K. garage was on fire, 2 step but especially old school garage from around 1995-1999 . I’d listen on pirate radio and buy cds. Well, I grew up with half of Roll Deep crew and Scratchy was my mate on street next to me. He got decks at about16, a little before he starting mc’ing and obviously, I used to go around his and he taught me how to mix. I got my first cheap pair of decks, shortly after and started buying U.K. garage Vinyl from local Underground record shop. Then after a few years garage kinda went a bit dark, faster more aggressive sound , so I started buying up those vinyl. Then Grime came along and as I already grew up with some roll deep members, I naturally started listening to grime and started buying grime vinyl. I was lucky because Danny weed lived on my street, I was mates with him and he used to give and sometimes sell me really cheap garage and grime, vinyl, as he’d get them sent for free on a record list, as he was a radio DJ . I bought grime for a few years. Then I got into Dubstep, Caspa Rusko, then I found Mala , Silkie , quest, Heny G antisocial and I fell in love and bought as much as I could afford. I always loved Reggae, growing up and after Dubstep died down I started buying loads of reggae albums from the likes of Sizzla, Luciano, Morgan Heritage, Jah Cure etc. During this time I also got into House music, Deep house, tribal house, U.K. Funky, artists like Crazy Cousins and went mad on those vinyl. I probably owned about 3000 plus vinyl but like with any1 that is obsessed with a certain something, I often made many impulse buys and because of this, I sold half my record collection and just kept all my incredible music, most of which is limited run and most of my £6 vinyl are worth upwards of £100. Music and nature are my 2 biggest passions and always will be. Nothing makes me more happy.

I deff recommend checking the Reggae Artists I mentioned. They are incredible and I think reggae is 1 of those music genres that most people can’t not love. Anyway, you have a great week too. LEGEND. BAD MAN TING.
Bro don't worry about being identified as a British person if you rather be proud of your Nigerian roots show it brother I do think you're right that we don't distinguish that's cause we don't want to cause offense with racism man. To tell the truth dude this is your roots it's your heritage so it's your responsibility to show it. I know it gets hard man i'm an expat living in the Netherlands but im telling u how it is fam. Honest to god i didn't know you're Nigerian i don't want to make assumptions about someones nationality based on appearance you get me? I'm glad you're speaking up about this cause it is a real thing but yknow what i've never known a Britain where you're not allowed to be proud of your heritage and roots. I look up to you man especially now you're repping Nigeria for real man. And idk man i'm proud of my country for being (how i know it) majoratively against racism. Idk if there's another side to this but if there is it's stuff you need to speak up about man. I was brought up not to discriminate and to be practically disgusted by racism. Now i'm living in a country that has a prime minister shouting ''do we want more or less morroccans in our country'' it's insane in comparison. Yeah man. I look up to you Skepta i think we're from near enough the same areas south east london right? Hearing you speak makes me feel more at home my friend. Man this world is crazy sometimes. Bless & thankyou for doing the interview fam
tbh we need a Skepta x 616 album ASAP

As a Black American whose culture originated rapping, rap was never limited to expressing pain. In fact, early Black American comedians use to rap when telling jokes. Gospel singers would rap, preachers rapped, and Black American DJs rapped. Rap is an art form to communicate pain, joy, happiness, to uplift, etc. ..it's purpose is versatile.
