It should be noted that there are 10 years between Chad Fernandez lipslide and the other three tricks. The lipslide is from Globe - Opinion which came out in 2001, and the others are from his Skatestache Part which came out in 2011 when he was 35 years(!) old.

This series is pretty profound. It is not only the history of skateboarding, but also the history of architecture and urban design (in California at least) and the history of the relationship between skateboarding and architecture. In the video about a big ledge (Oceanside?), some people give the filmers an odd look and they say something like "I bet those people are thinking 'What are those guys doing?'" It illustrates well how from one perspective, these stairs, rails, ledges, etc. are pretty unremarkable features of a space that the designers probably didn't give much thought to other than that they were needed to get people from one level to another, but in their interaction with skateboarding they become something incredible, magical, challenging, etc. Great work. I hope that the series continues.

If you calculate the hypotenuse of that stair gap, that's about a 19.5' jump! I know mountain bikers sometimes measure gaps that way by accommodating both length and height of a feature. Stoked that Dalton sent it! He made it look way too easy.

You know what would be really cool for your gap measurements? You could superimpose the triangles of each gap on top of each other once you get enough data. Use something famous like the original Carlsbad as your gold standard and overlap it with other gaps and stair sets like this. A simple graphic would make it easy to appreciate how gnarly some of these gaps are.

I love everything you do. I really like the exact measurements touch. You should keep like a spreadsheet of all the spots and do stuff at the end like "And this spot comes in 8th for vertical drop and 8th for horizontal gap" and show the other spots just ahead and behind so we can get an idea of how it compares to the other spots. Especially the Davis Gap, now I'm dying to know the measurements of that one so we can compare it to this one. Great video!
