SKATING JUMP ROTATION || OFF-ICE TRAINING | Coach Michelle Hong

Спорт

Welcome to my brand new off-ice training series called #SkateWithMichelle. The focus of this week is ROTATIONS! Executing clean jump rotations on the ground and understanding the fundamentals of off-ice jump rotations is key for the development of your skating success.
Today's jump rotation workout is geared towards the basic foundation. Regardless if you are working on your triple jumps or your singles, these fundamentals are an essential part of you progress. If you can spot the common mistakes and weaknesses you have with these drills you can apply them to the rest of your jumps. Let me know in the comment section below what your favorite part of today's "Skate With Michelle!" tutorial.
LET'S GET STRONG TO BECOME THE BEST SKATERS WE CAN BE!
Friendly Reminder: Please be careful when following along. If you never attempted certain elements displayed in the video, be sure to consult your figure skating coach before trying it for the first time.
Skating Love,
Coach Michelle

Thank you for the video. I am thinking how to prevent my free leg from traveling away from the skating leg in the back scratch position.I found that occurs quite often in my jumps and spins, but that doesn't make much improvement even if I put more focus on my free leg😂.

I'm 26 and skated at age 6 till I was 12 but never tried the jumps and I've been wanting to go back to the ice since november last year but I feel so intimidated because I want to try the jumps and pick up the habilities I had back then but it's been 14 years so I question myself a lot if I should give it a try but I want to skate again SO BAD!!!!!

Do it! I’m 23 and used to do figure skating (but on roller skates). I started at 10-11 and did it for about 5 years. I stopped for quite a while and only just got back into it and I’m so happy I did. Just go at your own pace and do it for yourself. It’s such a fun and rewarding form of exercise, so happy I started again, I hope you do too!

Omg omg me too I graduated from all the levels at this one public skating rink when I was 12 but couldn’t afford private lessons so I stopped. But I’ve always missed it and thought I could never do it again but now I’m trying to relearn it. I know it’s intimidating bc it feels like you’re so far behind, but I’m with you.

  • @Coachmotorin

Nope. This for different goals. For double or triple jumps you have tobuse mostly your shoulders. You need to open up it first and only than jump. This technic on video is more about you body controle, but not for the faster rotation.

@@tamarajames7329 You should practice single a lot until you get very used to it and the rotation is large. Also, make sure you have lots of height and speed. Then when your ready try 1.5 and repeat the process. Hope it helps 🙂
