Switch frontside Heel is one of those tricks that sounds like its hard to do but its actually quite easy once you get comfortable in switch. Switch Heels and frontside 180s feel really natural and easy. Also the more experience and comfortable you are riding a skateboard in general the easier it is to learn switch.

I have actually grown to like switch a lot. 2 years ago I hated it with every fiber of my body. Now 60% of the time I am skating is switch. It really turned for me when I got a switch hardflip. My tip to every one watching is to do like 9 or 10 switch ollies in a row. That helped me tremendously. Then everytime you do a switch trick think "ollie first then flip the board." and when you start to do a trick it's going to flip really slow and sluggish, do not give up on it just yet because that is necessary. At first you have to do that in order to understand the flip. Once you do all you have to do is move your feet faster and the board will flip faster. Lastly, i find it really helps to over exaggerate on what you are doing. Because what you think you are doing is exactly what you are doing. For example, what I did with my switch kickflips, I was not flicking my foot out at the right time and I couldn't get a consistent flip. So what I did was I aimed my foot toward the top nose of my board and I bent my knee a lot. Aiming my foot helped to flick my foot out at the right time and putting a lot of emphasis on my knee helped get the flip consistent and kept it under me. Now my rant of skateboarding is over. I hope I helped some people.

The first thing to learn when skating switch is just roll around and push switch... so simple but I never even thought about it, haha! I've been skating since I was probably 10, but stopped at 18 when I injured my wrist. Now I'm 31 and getting back into it. I'm surprised I can still do a lot of the tricks I used to, but I never ever ever learned anything switch. I think I did myself a disservice there. But I'm going for it now. Thanks for the vids!

I've been cruising a 22" Penny for about 20 hours now (across 11 days) and started learning to ride switch a few days ago. It's really pleasant to be able to do it until the next day when it seems like everything has to be relearned again (but in quicker time). Switch just offers such a "complete" feeling of contentedness when one isn't slipping off the back, etc. Shoulders and hips, shoulders and hips!

Fun fact: if anyone didn't know the term goofy comes from surfing because it was normal to have the dominant foot in the back to turn on the wave so goofy was to have the left in the back. when skateboarding became popular they used the same term. People though liked to have the right foot in the front do kick and do tricks. They kept the term goofy though. So goofy is more common in skateboarding but less common in surfing

I don't care about skating switch at all but I do want to learn to push switch. The reason why, I love doing fakie tricks like fakie bigspin, fakie 3 shuv, half cab, fakie ollie, etc, simple stuff but usually I will do a frontside 180 to put me in fakie stance, but then I can't push switch so unless I'm going down a hill or something, by the time I do the fakie trick, I don't have much speed left. So if I could learn to do a push or two while I'm facing the other direction, it would help make my fakie tricks more accessible, thus making me a more well rounded skater and improving my style. So that's my goal. Unfortunately I'm recovering from shoulder surgery, an injury caused by skateboarding. Oh well, hopefully in a few more weeks I'll be out there, ripping around and tearing laces.

Same here! I do tricks regular but skate goofy. It’s the most annoying thing on earth because I’m extremely comfortable riding goofy but can’t do tricks for the life of me that way

To me, if you are bad at balancing initially, try improving stability, then follow a few ollie tutorial videos so you dont break your arm again. Or you could wear pads, that too.

I've been skating since July also but I'm past the learning how to cruise phase.I'm now learning how to cruise switch lml.I had the same problem as you, honestly its all personal preference. How I positioned my feet to cruise was back foot horizontal covering all 4 bolts and and front foot horizontal covering all 4 bolts and vertical covering all 4 bolts when pushing.Doing this is just for the sake of learning as you get more comfortable you will constantly alter your foot positioning and eventually have your own default riding stance.I did that and now my foot positioning is back foot horizontal covering all 4 bolts and front foot vertical covering only the 1st 2 bolts when pushing and diagonal covering the 1st 2 bolts when I'm not pushing. To go farther when your pushing you need to have more powerful pushes. To do this you may need to place your back foot a lil in front of your front foot when pushing like walking and doing it faster with more power. If you don't got the balance to give off powerful pushes you will fall and relapse back into smaller pushes so make sure your able to balance enough before giving off bigger faster pushes to roll faster and longer.Your bearing might suck, need to be cleaned or both which is why you may not be rolling for long if your doing all of that but hopefully that's not the case.I know your comments over 3 weeks old so you may not be having these issues but if you still are hopefully this helps.

everywhere you cruise just go switch. when you ride fakie and need some more speed, push switch. you can't really get any reply secret tips on learning that faster, you just gotta get used to it. I always compare everything I learn switch to when I learned it in my regular stance. it's basically the same, but you could try some tricks nollie first before doing them switch, some are easier that way
