The tip about Ollie's . When he said "slide your front foot in a rolling motion" ; this is a great tip because generally when your in the heat of the moment you tend to do a mix of a slide and a "kick" this hurried motion causes you to slap the outside of your front foots ankle. If you use a rolling motion, as Tony said, it utilizes the "ball"of your foot, in contrast to the slap of a "kicked" slide off the front foot.

What you can do is buy a good skateboard and ride it, if you don't have balance tighten the trucks so it would be stable, get comfortable with it, try going down ramps and when you want try an olie, nolie,pop shuvit, kickflip, then master all the other tricks. Have fun : )
@TakumiJoyconBoyz
9 жыл бұрын
Lancelot Waka Yeah, the key is to start off simple. Just ride it every day as a form of transport when you only need to go short distances, or if you take public transit you can use it to get to your bus or train. Worry about the other stuff once riding has become second nature. Also, a lot of people I know learned how to do manuals as their first trick since it's a very simple concept and easier to practice than ollies. It will also improve your balance to help prepare you for other things down the road. I hate playing most sports but I love skateboarding as well.

I feel your pain. I would try a new trick for only 10 times. Then when I wanted to give up I would give it three more really good best effort tries. Then I would call it a day. That's how I learned to kickflip. : ) Now I'm way more consistant.

Ill be traveling an hour and a half to one tomorrow. I will say there are a lot more then back in the 80s and 90s when i wish I really had one. But yeah I think most kids are really lucky these days. And the guy saying Prince George county doesnt have a skate park. what about MT Rainier and the new proposed Woodside? And doesnt Montgomery County have a skate park also? Ive seen them in most small towns through out my travels. Maybe not much but something is better then the nothing I had growing up.

Hoooooly this brings back memories from waay back
it took me 3 and a half years too be able to do all of that.

TokeTaker420 Huh? He just said it took him 3 years to learn that stuff. Thats a pretty long time and admitting that it took THAT long would be the opposite of bragging! And he´s 10 y/o! You fucking moron!

Do you remember wanting/obsessing over shoes because you thought they would make you better?
When I started Skateboarding, I couldn't do an ollie but I could do shove it. That was a really weird thing for me still to this day.

For me I couldn't do kick flip but I could of landed a varial kickflip
I have worn airwalk skate shoes for years and they are at an affordable price and are sturdy and comfortable to wear there are plenty of choice of different designs,i have never had any problems and when you are skating all skate shoes start to wear from the grip tape etc....
Down the nostalgia rabbit hole... I remember getting this tape from a box of kraft dinner
Omg the nostalgia I’d watch this religiously before bed lol
This is amazing great job I am a huge fan
thank you for telling me how to turn
"This is Stan, he is the master of all things skateboarding" - Tony Hawk

oh my god i had this on vhs!!! great fucking times, idk how often i watched the kickflip tutorial as a kid hahaha
Tony hawk emphasized the importance of wearing pads and a helmet, yet his friend lacks any protective gear. He really should have suited up at least for the video, but was probably overwhelmed by the "uncool" factor… Oh the dilemmas in life some people face.

That or they feel uncomfortable with wearing them since they are stuffy overtime and some are used to not using it out of balance i guess
I had a mini version of this on dvd from a cereal box!
One day I'll get a skateboard and experience how it feels like to skate One day..
excellent tips
watching tony fuck up that kickflip made it 1000x easier to learn

Shaydon Johnson Dude I miss it very much. I wish I enjoyed the 2000s more than I did. That was when I stopped seeing any skaters at all anywhere. I lived in Georgia at the time and saw many skaters in 2008. than it just died. But lives on through the Internet with people searching for that time machine that brings back memories in vivid detail.
I'm a skateboard instructor and this video gave me some good ideas on how to teach some of these kids who are not as skilled as others.👍
No bullies just have fun and skate right
Thanks Tony!
Anyone trying to find out the song around 34:50 (lyrics start "what went wrong, takes too long") . I emailed the video company years ago and morgan the director told me it was a demo song given by the band "mobius". She told me shed mail me a copy of the cd but never did :(. The song unfortunately is not on the web. Still haunts me to this day
Man, i haven't seen this for fuckin years! Mega nostalgia! My aunty got the VHS for me for my birthday
0:46 - 0:52 This video is brought to you by tech decks... yay
con este video aprendi a patinar cuando era chico
Tony hawk you are the best skateboarder your cool
Who’s here showing love in 2020
i learned it on gravel it gives the pop of concrete but your board cant slip out from underneath you.
Actually Tim Scroggs and a few other free-stylers did what is the original kickflip. We would hook our toe under the deck and kick and flip the board while jumping. Rodney Mullen took it to a new level with a bit of pop to it and now it is what today what we call a kickflip...
Da hora tony hawk 2
Hi guys. I'm Lancelot, currently living in Morocco. Growing up, I'm not really a sportive guy, but I've come to fall in love with skateboarding. I really love it, I even bought a board, but I've NEVER tried it before. I would really appreciate it if someone help me to. (Will be like a dream comes true)

What you can do is buy a good skateboard and ride it, if you don't have balance tighten the trucks so it would be stable, get comfortable with it, try going down ramps and when you want try an olie, nolie,pop shuvit, kickflip, then master all the other tricks. Have fun : )
@TakumiJoyconBoyz

If you can't nail a trick don't get mad, that's what I did for so long and it's really depressing
@Myeviltwin100
6 жыл бұрын
I feel your pain. I would try a new trick for only 10 times. Then when I wanted to give up I would give it three more really good best effort tries. Then I would call it a day. That's how I learned to kickflip. : ) Now I'm way more consistant.
algun dia sere como tony :v
i dont know how to do an olie i dont know how to do an olie practised for a relly long time like 2 months every day 2h now i think what i choulden dont with the 80$ and time what i chould do thats a real shame you at least did something like finished a game or something XD well done ! :D
