    Heel flips felt easier when I first started skating because kick flip was too complicated. Now I can kick flip but I can’t heel flip

    Sometimes Its hard for me to keep my front foot on deck, and i do FS shove it instead of heelflip :( but for level it out I know i have to put a lot of focus to just stick to the end of ollie, like, someone said, it's ollie north when you flick it (kickflip and heelflip as well); but its really hard to change your habit od doing it by just kicking it forward

    I learned heel flips before I could Ollie. The easiest way to understand how to keep the board under you is to make sure you keep your shoulders lined up with the board and jump the way your toes are pointed when you pop. You’ll land it every time

    This is solid. I like the way you talk concept and not step by step. Evey skater skates a bit different so understanding the concept is the most important part. I just learned them at 43. As an old paratrooper my ankles don't kickflip well so heelflip allows me have a go to flip trick.

    Another good tip is, when your hanging your toes off the board, make sure to only hang the ball of your toes off. A lot of ppl tend to over hang there foot off, which definitely will mess with the balance and cause you to rocket-flip.

    Thanks for the video. I learned heelflips the old way, "strait out and down method." I think that worked back in the day with a flatter board rather than the boards that there is now, more concave and a steeper tail. This made me understand the concept a little better, thanks!

  • @timmurski2075
    @timmurski20755 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the great tutorial. My heelflips have been coming around really easily lately and what you described is on point. Staying straight and centered is essential. I keep my back foot more towards the heel side of the tail. For some reason the pop is slightly like a fs shuv, but not enough to make the board turn. I think it's because as the flick pushes the board it catches against the griptape and actually makes it rotate slightly backside. I changed my pop up to combat this and it helped to keep the whole board straight. More recently my flick has been better aimed and I kept my back foot the same but with less of the front shuv motion. Everyone learns differently. Just sharing what helped me.

    I've noticed recently but the motion of any tricks goes like this -> Prepare Position -> Pop and start moving your body for the trick ( slower motion) -> then flick ( faster motion ) As if you were to Unstick the board from you. That all happens from jumping to mid air, so you catch and land it.

    I can heel flip really well my only problem is when I try to do them off of stair or a ledge, it’s like the grip tape slaps my feet and then when I slam down to catch it the board goes behind me .. anyone else had this problem and figured it out ?

    I can land heelflips like 90% of the time, but only with my front foot. My back foot just lands behind the board (behind the tail) on the floor. I tried jumping more forward but then I can only get half the rotation or even none. Tips?

    You're either not committing or you might have learned the motion with your bodyweight too far on the tail which means you need to relearn it the proper way... Try thinking of it with the same weight distribution as for an ollie (if your trouble is committing give it a try in the grass)

    Hey man, iam wondering, i see your style at skateboarding especially when you are popping, i have an issie i guess, i dont know hot to look better at doing my tricks, it looks weird i bent to much forward with my upper body, you i dont knos just look way better, also, i dont get it how to level out the ollie, i can do kickflips, but they are more rocket, and i didnt catch even once. Its all like luck, i dont like my own style, so iam asking you can you speak or show how to you knoe lool better, or what i should do with my upper body

    Cool to hear, that as a advanced skater you dont have to like every skate trick, thats because I dont got the heelflip until today because I dislike the footplacement, feels so unnatural

    you never explained how to catch it, I have a question do you need to jump up right away after you flick the Heelflip?

  • @SKATEHACKS

    There's not much to explain for the catch: if you pop and flick well as shown, the board will come around and 'catch' your feet. It's not something that usually happens immediately when you first learn them, it becomes easier over time with practice and getting comfortable. The catch depends on the solid flick and a good weight stance. The 'jump' should already be in process when you're flicking - you can't do any tricks without a jump. If you're talking about keeping your foot from hitting the board after flick, keep the foot extended for a little after flicking. Just remember you should keep your weight over the board and not in front of it.
