So I picked this game up today and while I haven't made it very far yet, I've really enjoyed it so far. I wanted to give a tip for anyone having trouble with the fonts in the game: during character creation the default font settings were honestly kind of hurting my eyes to the point of a slight headache but I realized that at least for me it wasn't just that the font is extremely crunchy with pixels, it was how very contrasty the text was overall and in particular the drop shadows. After changing the drop shadow color in the font options tab it's not perfect but way, way better, and it makes me think that in an upcoming patch it wouldn't be too difficult for the developer to make some minor adjustments to the contrast of the text against the background of the text boxes and maybe adjusting the fonts by just a few pixels so that it doesn't create weird continuous lines with how the letters line up across multiple lines, and I think just some small adjustments like that could go a long way to make it easier on the eyes without spoiling the dev's vision of an immersive look for the text.

I don’t mind crunchy games with complex character systems. But if you don’t like complex character sheets, let me say don’t play Rogue Trader 😆 you level constantly and have choices between skills like: 1. Add 1.63% to damage per hit to enemies wearing paisley socks and with the status effect “chilled” applied, but only on Tuesdays. 2. Gain 1 temporary hit point per adjacent enemy per round, if the enemies have a dodge score lower than your dodge reduction score, stacks across rounds when the moon is in a waxing gibbous phase 3. Reduce enemies dodge by an amount equal to the solution of the following partial differential equation, you suffer damage if you solve the equation wrong

Rogue Trader is the first CRPG I've played and completed in MANY years. But yeah the stats are really ridiculous. I had a few 1-2 hour breaks of obsessively trying to rebuild my party. That being said I put almost 200 hours in and loved it.

@@demoncleaner80 you would probably like their previous game then, Wrath of the Righteous. It’s standard fantasy, but has a complex progression system, is really long and well written, etc. Plus all the DLC for it is out, so it’s like a 300+ hour game if you do everything.

This game has been very enjoyable, imo the devs did a great job. Wish we had some kind of respec. Also feel like you're giving BG3 a bit of an unfair shake! It's a lot of fun!

I had not realized it until you described CriticalRole that, yeah, that is pretty much exactly my problem with it. It isn't really about playing D&D, it's about a bunch of theater kids wanting to do voices. And then breathlessly grab each other over some...weird moment in a "scene". Meanwhile the actual game is...oh, it's somewhere in there, maybe...who cares.

I completely agree with you on BG3. I've bought Skald recently and so far I'm having a much more rewarding experience with this indie gem. The NPCs in BG3 are, for the most part, frankly, poorly written and insufferable. This game NAILS the mood, this is "chef's kiss" atmosphere and aesthetic right here.

Romance in rpgs is a disease. Sadly the cultists of nurgle are very loud on social media spamming devs to allow them to single player erp in every game. Pillars of Eternity 1 thankfully didn't have any, but the sequel succumbed to the corruption. Those kinds of people are sick in the head.

just by looking at pillaers 2 you can tell it was woke and therefore gay and cringe. If you asked me the best love story in a rpg was in venetica because the whole game was the main character finding temples to talk to her dead husband.

@@arkgaharandan5881 pillars 2 had a really good multiclass system before they "fixed" it, destroying half the good builds because devs cried that they didn't like monks dual wielding shotguns and they needed to "balance" the game before some gay competition that no one cared about.
