Unfortunately this camera got bricked with a new firmware and then the battery terminals inside fell apart. Not built very well.

We are shopping for an affordable camera to replace our cellphone (s8) my daughter and I currently use footage. We mainly need the ability to shoot longer super slow motion clips..and it is coming down to a new gigantic new cell phone bill or finding something under $300 bucks standalone camera wise. Mine has been great. No action camera is going to perform well in sub zero temperatures as the batteries are going to drain fast.

Good video and while I was considering the Sj10, I think I'll go for the Dji Osmo over the Gopro 8 Black as they've just had a firmware update and parts like the camera lenses are replaceable unlike the one on the 8 Black. Plus they've now gone down in price and can be picked up from around the £250 saving £80 GBP. 📸👍

1st no need to ask on multiple videos, 2nd use a U3 speed sd card. If it’s still overheating, contact SJCAM and speak to them.

Yes the camera's they are shipping out now have firmware 1.01 on them and it's an improvement over the beta firmware on my first one.

Hello, I also replaced the sj8pro firmware in my hand with the 1.3.0 version, but the problems that followed were the low bit rate and the large amount of ISO MAX100 noise. I don't know if you have encountered such a situation. I usually choose 2.7K 60FPS for shooting, but the shot is not very satisfactory

You can always change to a previous firmware if you don't like 1.3 as they are all listed on their website.

@@WORTHITORNOT I upgraded the firmware to 1.3.2 and found that 2. 7K 30FPS shooting, the bit rate increased to 52Mbps. However, the color mode does not support flat when anti-shake is turned on. Overall, 1.3.0 seems to be the best choice, although sometimes it will crash

i dont know why but all the budget action cameras struggles in side to side movement

Great EIS requires high end hardware and for these budget action cameras to stay budget, they have to cut corners to keep the price down.

Hi you should test with SJ9 strike and SJ10 pro to see which is better. And is SJ8 pro better than my trusty sj5000x elite?

Well the SJ9 was garbage, and my SJ10 is now bricked. Sjcam sent me a new firmware and it bricked the camera. The SJ8 Pro is MUCH better than the 5000X Elite !

Yes, not the best in the world, especially considering the price point, you can just buy an Osmo Action for a little more $ and have one of the best action cameras ever made.

SJ 6 is cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Not worth it purely because of extremely poor warranty and after sales service. I've had 2 SJ cams, an M20 and an SJ8 pro, the latter which was problematic, I had to pay for return postage to China, they are quite rude and ill mannered when messaging/communicating. In UK, I can go to a shop called John Lewis and buy a Gopro 8 black with a 2 year superb warranty, meaning if the camera malfunctions, they will immediately replace or refund without dialogue. If they replace, the 2 year warranty starts again. If SJ cam were smart enough to to this, they would capture a huge portion of the lucrative action camera market. Sj 10 and Sj8 is probably the same cam with some difference to whites and shadows. Gopro has the best stabillization but the footage is oversaturated and probably difficult to alter it using software. The best cam is DJI.

@@borasiman648 : Yes, the SJ10 Pro definitely needs a firmware update to fix the audio, some frame dropping at 2.7k, fix the EIS etc. I have reached out to them numerous times and they still don't have a firmware update available. Hopefully they address these issues soon !

I never wanted to be part of the GoPro cult. But I bought the 8black at Costco for 280$ that gp8 beats up all other cams for price and quality.

I agree, the Hero 8 and the Osmo Action are the KINGS of the action camera market and rightfully so as no other action camera out there can compete with their stabilization/features and images.

Well the Hero 8 is much better and now they are about the same price so that killed it for the SJ10 Pro for me. I have the SJCams M20 and it has been great but I want to upgrade now but the SJCams does not cut it. I would prefer the Osmo but with only a built in battery that rules it out for me.

The Hero 8 is a much better buy in my opinion, better everything.

So I bought an SJ9 Strike, and had nothing but issues with it, managed to get in contact with SJCam and they agreed to send me an SJ10 Pro if I sent back my SJ9, my SJ9 was overheating and freezing, making it entirely unusable, any footage over 10 minutes in length would cause it to lock up entirely, only way to sort it was to pull the battery. So I get my SJ10 and go to use it today in my car at the rally track, first bump I hit and the damn thing turns off, doesn't save any footage at all, the SJ9 would at least give me something I could work with, second time out it just freezes and overheats again, still no footage, the screen flickers and has lines all through it out of the box, which wasn't a great start. Meanwhile I've got a 1080p Action cam (Literally what it's called) that I got from jaycar jury rigged to my bonnet with a random battery way too big for it duct taped to the outside of the case operating in the sun and heat wash from the engine bay that kept recording till the body was literally too hot to touch. Like, cheap Vs expensive here, $350 for the SJ cam and two lots of postage, vs $80 on clearence for the Jaycar special and it works a treat some how. When my SJ9 Strike worked it delivered excellent quality video and the image stabilization was unbelievable, but even operating in air conditioning it still found a way to overheat. Now I'm working out if I send it back and try and get a refund or keep it and try and fix its overheating issues myself.

The SJ9 was a total strike out ! My first SJ10 Pro they sent me was garbage, this 2nd one seems better. Don't know what's going on with them lately.

Image stabilization is lackluster to say the least. Not up to snuff against DJI or Gopro... The price is nice, though. Colour on Gopro is the best.

every time i finished recording 1 or 2 video 1080p or in 4k the screen freezes always ,, thats the only issue that annoys me so much , i need to take out the battery to shut the cam off and turn it back on so that i can record another video

How about the fact that if something breaks and you lost a support ticket they take it down. They did it two times to me with my SJCAM SJ8 after it wouldn't power on despite following their directions of taking a video of thralfunction. Do yourself a favor and go with something else. They erase support tickets and it will never be fixed under warranty. If you contact the seller, they will also not help as mine said to find someone to repair it and they would pay for it. Problem is, not one repair person will touch it as schematics are not available. The seller then said they sent out a replacement, never arrived. They said they sent a 2nd (hard to believe) and surprise, surprise that never arrived. After that, they never answered any emails. I have switched to GoPro Hero 7 cameras which are getting cheaper and they are better quality video and build. GO WITH ANOTHER BRAND.

Excellent post Eric ! I can tell you years ago SJCAM was all about customer service, then BAMM, something changed ( upper management) and their customer service skills have fallen tremendously. Sorry to hear of your experience, but unfortunately I hear the same more and more about them. I agree, at this stage it’s probably better to go with another company like GoPro or DJI Osmo Action.

Eric DIY : The Hero 7 is a solid camera with very good EIS but the stabilization is much better on the Hero 8.

Exactly. You get a lot more for you buck with the HERO 7. Even the HERO 6. Sjcam needs to compete in the budget cameras again because going to the premium prices with budget quality is NOT cutting it.

DJI osmo better

wow it's horrible. I'm so dissapointed. Was looking forward to something better but hell no. In my opinion it's a complete flop.

Not different from sj8pro at all. It's not worth it.

I agree to a point, this one is waterproof without the need for an external housing, but still basically the same internal hardware.
