Originally General levy was a uk reggae dancehall artists He was on parr with shabba ranks beenie man buju banton bounty killer in the early 1990s He jumped onto jungle with incredible And bcame a jungle legend Hes been around from his kid days So late 1970s early 1980s There is plenty of late 1980s footage of him on KZread as a uk reeggae dancehall sound system artist... He released songs to So did uk apache He was a uk reggae artist to grom the 1980s His first song was a reggae song I forgot the title But it had something to do with The poll tax... Then he also bcame a junglist

M Beat General Levy was massive back in the day, along Shy FX and UK Apache Original Nuttah. Still smashes it up. Before that though, was the Jamaican influenced sound systems. Saxon Sound probably originated the UK speed rapping, Papa Levi, Daddy Colonel, Asher Senator and the legendary Smiley Culture. Check out Cockney Translator and Police Officer. Maxi Priest was a member of Saxon for a while.

There’s videos on General Levy’s KZread channel recorded in 1989 in London with this kinda flow. He switches accents a lot from British to Jamaican. I think he was born and raised in the UK but also spent time in Jamaica growing up. But check out those videos in your free time, it’s a cool window into the past. Quality isn’t great so it might not be good for a reaction. Edit: there’s an even older video from 1987 filmed in Birmingham, UK with General Levy. He would’ve been about 16 at the time.

UK is where it's AT... specially in the Drum and Bass scene.. Wish the states would be like that.. people over here love Dubstep way more and it's disappointing.. cuz DNB is just THAT GOOD.. specially the MC's.. they be spitting sick lyrics.. and i love the knowledge being thrown around about General Levy.. specially the shanties part.. sick shit guys!

When this General Levy track come out it was a commercial smash But he wasn't accepted and wasn't really part of the jungle scene. I honestly can't remember him ever being on radio or in clubs during the peak jungle years. (93-97) unless it was a live pa of this song. To put things into perspective...Dizzy was about 5 when this song came out.
