Sixty Glorious Years (1937) by Herbert Wilcox, Clip:Victoria marries Albert with much pomp & glamour

Фильм және анимация

The Image: Two words - Anna Neagle - Look at this - aestheticoftheimageuk.wordpre... - Albert dancing (waltzing no less!) with his new bride, Victoria, underneath all those chandeliers and being gazed at by all those guests. All that lavish (chalky) colour when many films seemed to be still filmed in black and white (See my 1937 Playlist here: • 1937 Release )
ps - I rather liked the final frame which captures the swirl of Victoria's dress in an almost Degas mood - aestheticoftheimageuk.wordpre... - again highly stylised and...nice!
I was surprised by how much I sorta liked this film - like a rolling painting. mazzing cinematography for 1930s. Has the charm of an old fairy tale book for children - this scene anyway...
(I was amazed to find out that cinematography was by a young Freddie Young - he of Lawrence of Arabia, 1962)

Quite interested to see this, being a fan of historical films, and never having before heard of this treatment of Victoria. It was evidently made to commemorate the centenary of the by then legendary Queen's accession.

It's all about Anna Neagle for me - one of Britain's (few!) international superstars. My gran loved her...
