Six Kids and 60K In The Hole - Til Debt Do Us Part - Blended Family Blues

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Between them, Sharon and Brad have failed relationships, six kids and nearly $60,000 of debt. They’re full of good intentions, but with Sharon’s unemployment, Brad’s financial foolishness, and a total lack of communication these two are at the breaking point. When faced with financial problems in the past, their solution was to separate their accounts and bills entirely, but that only proved to drive them further apart. In one of her most fiery challenges ever, Gail tries to provide this drifting couple with a second chance at love by forcing them to address the topics they’ve been avoiding. Pushed to the limit, will Sharon and Brad learn how to depend on one another, or will their financial future go up in flames? -

    Hubby and I used envelopes for budgeting the day we got married. We were married for 51 1/2 years when he passed. We always lived beneath our means. We split bills according to income. If I made 60% of our total income, I put 60% of my income into the family budget. Worked great all the years together. We. both always knew what the bills were and what our savings were.

    When the guy says he doesn't know he does cash advances, 3 options: 1- he has a mistress or hookups 2- the cash advances are automatically withdrawn when his account goes in the negative. 3- He has an addiction, gambling for example. Due to the fact they say it's cash, I'm pretty sure he's a cheater or gambler! I mean... was. Pretty sure they didn't make it as a couple.

    It amazes me how many of these couples say "my money." It's not your money. You marry someone, the money becomes both of yours. You don't have to merge accounts or give up personal responsibility, but you don't get to say it's not your debt, or the money you make is 'yours.'

    I married my high school sweetheart. Together for 33 married 27 years since we were 15.we were fortunate to find each other so young and stay happily married. We had nothing to begin with so all financial planning was done completely together. It must be difficult to start new relationships when u both have kids and jump in with your spending habits and assests and debts and try to get them together

  • @kibblenbits
    @kibblenbits Жыл бұрын

    Notice they lumped the income together? You can tell the house is probably her's from her previous marriage. I'll bet she makes more in just child support (ex must have made much more money), than he does working, with all the child support he owes. He's the "father" of 4 kids, but can't stay focused enough to complete a simple budget on his own, because he could care less. His problem is that he's never grown up (probably never will) and I'll bet he's done this to every woman he's been with. Don't know where all the money from his cash advances goes? This woman is lying to herself. Hope she dumped him, because this kind of guy is a dime a dozen, not worth the time or bother, and she could end up with an STD.

    During the 90's I worked in wedding videography it was not uncommon for the ethnic parents to give their kids a home for a wedding gift. I recall 1 wedding that was over the top & dropped $80K USD (I converted it) & lit lasted a few months. The parents on both sides had loans to pay for it all. Sad that the marriage failed but even sadder the parents went into so much debt.

    Unbelievable that people can be so ignorant about their debt....and getting monthly statements yet they are shocked when all their debt are totalled by a financial adviser. Don't they not know how to use a calculator and work out a budget....ever heard about garage sales/fleamarkets and sell off some the extra clothes, golf clubs etc. - every bit helps.
