"Prejudices Work Both Ways" | Rich House Poor House | Channel 5

Ойын-сауық

The community spirit is something that makes Melanie and her family rich in life. When Paula and Dave swap houses with Melanie on Rich House Poor House, it shows that despite having a much bigger house and more money, they have a smaller community around them.

The fact that my weekly polo club costs are more than that families monthly income really saddens me, makes me forget people live with such little but still manage to be happy and have such a community spirit. The neighbours seemed so nice to them I would never meet people like that and I wish I did. This show has been a real eye opener as to why we need to work better as a nation to make sure everyone can afford not only food and clothes but afford to enjoy the self, leisure is not just for the rich.

This is actually very very interesting. You can see that the less well off family own a older gen Audi A3. The well off family own a Peugeot 5008. Now these cars differ HUGELY in terms of car status and brand image, yet the richer family opt for the more modest (despite being quite expensive) Peugeot 5008.

Richer or more successful people tend to be more conscientious. This would include traits of cleanliness and orderliness, as well as planning and less risk tolerance. As a result they clean more and don’t have kids until they’re financially stable and in a committed relationship. Typically anyway, there are always exceptions.

If you think that's weird. About two miles from my house, there is short street with some of the biggest houses in the area. On some of the driveways, a few of the households own a more expensive car but also a lot less expensive car. One house only ever has cheap cars (like 10 years old). I guess, they dont care about their car; they dont want to flaunt their wealth where ever they go; it's a car and it works... Not everyone wants or needs an expensive fancy car.
