Sivasri Skandaprasad - Bharatanatyam Arangetram - May 20 2007
Long post indeed!! But totally worth it because this is a very important and special post!
This day, 20th of May, 13 years back...With the ensemble of stalwarts both on the stage and in the audience... incidentally on Mahaperiva's birthday. First time on stage, solo, was no joke. From day one till this day, Roja aunty @reddrose6 has been my strength, showering all her love, care and blessings on me, which made this possible. And thank you my dear friend ananthaaaa for obliging to perform in my arangetram for my nattuvangam, which no one else has ever done.
The doyen, Karaikudi Krishnamurthy thatha...Full of energy...can't remember a single dull moment with him both on and off stage. Blessed is an understatement to be accompanied by such a senior vidwan.
To dance to celestial music which elevates us and takes us so close to the divine, is a rare chance one gets. I consider myself extremely privileged to have had my very own guru A S Murali uncle, @asmuralisinger accompanying me on this unforgettable day. Words cannot explain how he has brought me into the realm of divine music and I will be ever grateful to both my gurus for the priceless love and blessings they shower me with.
Smt. Bama Visweswaran,Bama aunty is family. She has seen me grow up and has played a major role in molding me to what I am today. She also graciously agreed to accompany me for a few numbers.
I thank from the bottom of my heart, Sri M. S. Kannan uncle (Violin), Sri Mudikondan Ramesh uncle (Veena), Sri Muthukumar uncle (Flute) , Ganeshu uncle and Lakshminarayan mama (Tambura).
The last and most important person is my dear Appa vidwan Seerkazhi Sri J. Skandaprasad @adnaks who was, is and will be my 'ringmaster' as we lovingly address him. He made me practice for 6 hours a day, otherwise, doing a varnam with 9 unbelievable jatis of Guru Sri Adyar K Lakshman sir, would have been far from possible.
Another great blessing was having Leela Akka as the chief guest and my paati and thatha Smt. Shanthi Jayaraman and late Seerkazhi Sri R. Jayaraman for conducting the show. Also I must thank sethu sir for the wonderful make-up and poorna aunty for compering. Great memories to cherish...✨

There are many gifted beings, but a lot fewer elevated beings. Sivasri belongs to the latter. Being on the spiritual journey myself, I can recognize a spiritually elevated being when I see one. There are many, many good singers and dancers, technically speaking, but very few who actually pour their soul into their renditions or infuse their dance with emotions so naturally. The bhava in Sivasri's singing and the devotion in her dance (esp. at such a young age) are indicators of a supremely gifted AND soulful artist. With great power comes great responsibility. I see a long and fulfilling life journey of spirituality and service to art, culture, and humanity in this Karma Yogi. God Bless !!

We really enjoyed. What an expression you brought out as a child. Blessed are your parents. But the question arose why there are no Bhratha Natyam performances at all which we were looking forward from USA.Your performance was excellent then why no chances. Nattuvangam?. After accompanying Smt. Malini I expected some performances in Bombay. I saw you sitting aloof like a shy child. Looking forward to your katchery and Bharatha Natyam too. As a well wisher request you to Consult experts. May God bless to get more chances to exploit your talents besides Nama Sankeerthanam. Our Best wishes to you and your parents.
