I know that many of the Cholas/Cheeras Dynasty are devotees of Shiva. In the early ADs, they called Lord Shiva as Esan/Ishan (another name for Lord Shiva), but nowadays, no one uses this. Although I have heard that many Cholas/Cheeras also worshipped the Supreme God Vishnu along with Shiva.

Hello, Bahubali is shot simultaneously in tamil, all tamil dialogues were pinned by madhan karky....It is as much as a tamil film as it is done in telugu. Even prabhas, Rajamouli told 1000000000 times, but still such foolish comments.even the Malayalam version dubbed from tamil version only for lip syncing....If you have doubt then in this video itself check prabhas last dialogue,it is shot in tamil....in Telugu he will say something else... But all those words he is uttering it is in tamil without being dubbed....just look his lip and dialogue...(oon sivanukku aayiram vaati illa ovvoru nimishamum ucchi kulurum sariya), also look manohari song in Telugu and Tamil both are different and have different lip syncing in Telugu and Tamil version separately.... kindly edit ur comment first after noticing...

I am Hindu and from Mumbai. I have visited Meenakshi temple and Rameshwaram Temple in Tamil Nadu and the way they portrayed Hinduism and the structure of the temples as well as the stories about Hindu Gods inscribed in those Temple's walls . Amazing !! Proud to be a Hindu and lucky to go to Tamil Nadu which had played a great role in Hinduism.

Proud of this version...Madhan Karky did his best in selecting the lyrics...and Baahubali team must be appreciated for allowing this song to have complete Tamil lyrics....Shiva Tandava Stotram is definitely a powerful hymn...but the Tamil lyrics of this song touches a much deeper part of my soul...being my mother tongue...

Most of the Shiva and Vishnu temples are in Tamilakam and almost all the hymns are in Tamil language only . Before commenting bs know that, Tamil has the largest collection of literature in India it's more than sanskrit. Even Modi and other great priests know this very well don't be a frog in the well. There was a Siva temple near my home in my village. I am Muslim but we were very close to that temple. We used to play cricket at the temple ground, we donated fuel for the temple festival every year. I don't know, my mom always used to say Siva is a nice lord and it's a divine temple. This song, with it's impeccable lyrics, gives me goosebumps always. This has become one of my favorite songs. I don't know what's is it all about, the music, the lyrics, the divinity, the heroism, the making or the voice. This song is such a nice one ::)

@@ad534 These lyrics were powerful because some of the lines were taken from Thiruvasakam written by Manikkavasagar(Lord Siva devotee) in 8th century. Shaiva hymns book. More than 1000 years old with classic Tamil and that's why it's so powerful. English translation what he made in the comment is too good but it'll not give you the feel/meaning of the rich language Tamil and also In other version of this song, the lyrics were written primarily for this movie. But, In Tamil, they used lines from Thiruvasakam. That's why this Tamil version has got more views than original Telugu version.

@@dv9239 Unfortunately I couldn't find the Telugu version on Netflix when I watched the films, they just had Tamil, English, Hindi and Malayalam. Plus, before the films came out I listened to most of the songs in Tamil on KZread, so I favored Tamil when I finally got to see the movies : )

@@mathansakthi6667 Lord Siva is referred lots of times in in Ancient Tamil literature, Sangam literature and later works, though not directly. His name is referred to as Sri Rudram and Chamaka, where Siva’s aspect Rudra is addressed. Siva means auspiciousness-Mangalam. Prominent reference comes in the Sri Rudra as ‘,Nama Shivaya cha, Sivadharaaya cha', and it is kept as a secret-Guhyam. Similarly in Tamil literature, especially Sangam Literature, Siva is referred to only through his Attributes, never directly.
