Sitting for 35 years, will this old diesel ford ever run again?
This f350 looks like it’s went through hell and back, but I think it still has some life left in it, can we get it running after it’s been sitting for 35 years? This old truck looks to be sporting a 6.9 IDI, a t-19 4 speed, and a Dana 60 rear axle, it’s quite the pleasant combo. We bought this truck for its parts to keep my other three on the road happy, we will use as much as we can.

The dealership sticker is from Grand Centre Alberta. ALTA is the old way of shortening Alberta. Now its just AB. Grand Centre no longer exists as it merged with neighbouring Cold Lake.
In 1996 Grand Center Alberta merged with Cold Lake Alberta. That cab is a ways from home. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video Colt! Still lots of good parts on that old truck. That 6.9 sounds great. You'll have that engine running just as good as old blue before we know it. Cheers
You are probably one of my new favorite KZreadrs. I love the idi.
Cool it's such an early one!!!
Very enjoyable and nice to see you got it done and running.
That's probably a Dana 70. They use the same covers as the 60. I have a 83 f250 with a 70 in it so I would be super surprised that this one being DRW to not be a 70 as well. My truck is also Canadian made.
Great rescue find! Love these old bullnose Ford trucks, especially the 6.9L IDI diesel V8 engine ones. Axles, transmissions, cooling and suspension all MORE durable. Worthy of keeping engine stock, as zero emissions equipment on it AND turbos tend to fail. A stout dual exhaust like a custom crossover will do it good. Glow plugs biggest issue, but Motorcraft do it best. Worthwhile replacing stock delay switch as many bypass it and burn up glow plugs otherwise. Glad it's a manual transmission too, as their automatic transmission for these diesel V8 engines tended to explode due to strong engine torque output. Bodies still plentiful out there for replacement, plus seats interchangeable even from 1999+ Super Duty supposedly. Body can be redone then sealed, painted and Line-X coated beds and underbelly. Love that truck!👍
Well done !
Spray and go.
Great job, i like yours persistence
Love the bullnose Ford trucks ❤ I have so many diecast models
You're a good feller.
What a sweetheart👌
my 1990 f-superduty cab and chassis has a cab light
That is an 82-86 Grill. Only 80-81 didn't have blue oval. Also 6.9 IDI was first used by Ford in 83 so yes that's the correct grill
Ok i need help my truck has a 6.9 it was an ether baby i was told but the dman thing wont start probably originql starter the batteries are 700 cca and thats what it had when it was running and i cant figure out why it wont start toher than its just been sitting
