Sisyphus65 - The Keyboard That Cheated God? (Unboxing + Review)
Ғылым және технология
From one myth to another tale, we constantly see amazingly themed boards and is it a coincidence that they're from interesting mythologies? Today we'll dig a bit deeper into the design of this board and showcase its trickster backstory.

I prefer sound over flex cuts.

I prefer the typing feel of flex cuts. Considering a keyboard is to use rather than to listen to, feel trumps any sound preference in my book.
Thank you very much for the review, nearLucid! :)
that deskmat tho
I really watch the build video, but it seems like I don't notice the time passing! Thank you very much for the good video. Please upload often!! I'll come to play!!
ahahaha I appreciate the thumbnail animation, idk if it was on purpose but that opening loop fits well
love Quadeca’s song called Sisyphus ✨👌🏾
The no foam sounds really good :o
Damn that morse code is actually really cool and clever. They’ve made i look really nice aswell!
Definitely ordering the green / gold version! Especially since there will only be 300 total made overall!
one must imagine Sisyphus happy :)
I'm guessing the flex cuts is possibly because of the lack of daughterboard for USB. I'm wondering why no separate daughterboard?
Is it just me or does this board have a distinct tray-mount sound without all the harshness?
ahhh a visitor....
shoutout to fans of Albert Camus :) I love the design of this board. Just put in my order for a black/gold SE
Can you tell me what Font is this in the title?
ugh. I signed up for Loki65 but the US vendor is falling apart and now all US orders are being refunded. super unfortunate.

man such a bummer that they’re adding flex cuts to the PCB, building this plateless with no flex cuts would be very entertaining, there’s not many plateless 65% boards available (and seemingly fewer still that offer no flex cut PCBs)

Flex cuts make typing fun. Primary purpose of a keyboard is to type, so the feel ought to be at least as important as sound, arguably more. You can also tune sound through any number of ways, which you can't do as much of with the feel.

@@nickthaskater I'd say with a gasket mounted board you have a number of options for tuning feel (selectively removing gaskets, replacing silicon gaskets with poron, using a thinner top vs. bottom gasket, etc.). I also think with a plateless 1.2mm PCB, you can get more than sufficient flex without dampening the sound. Obviously at the end of the day it's all preference, but I do think having built multiple boards plateless with flex cuts (jris 65, thera 75 v2), they sound considerably more lively with the flex cuts taped, and it really doesn't hinder the feel. I think they'd have been even better with no flex cuts. In a perfect world, vendors would give folks options (as in the case of the new QK boards!).

@@ImOnMy116 flex cuts allow for isolated flex. That's entirely different than the whole PCB compressing on the mounts or the whole PCB flexing. The fact that you have the option, as you say, to tape the cuts without affecting the isolation they offer, is to my point: sound can be tuned any number of ways but physical properties like a rigid PCB vs. cuts can't be made up for in any other way.

@@nickthaskater I'd still say taping the cuts isn't the same as having a no flex cut PCB. Certainly isolated flex is a different feel than the whole plate / pcb flexing, and it can be a unique feel, but in my experience (subjective as it may be) flex cuts on a 1.2 mm PCB offer very little (if anything) when using a full plate. If folks aren't going to solder a plateless / half plate build (which I'd say is the majority), I just don't see the utility. Again, it's all preference, but I do think it's a shame that many new boards releasing don't at least offer a non-flex cut PCB.

@@nickthaskater Flex cuts make typing more fun for *some* people. I personally much prefer firmer typing experiences with a bit of give like a top mount board with a plastic plate, or a gummy o-ring mount board. Boards with lots of flex cuts are cool for the first few days you use them, but the novelty wears off very quickly IMO, and then you're just left with a mediocre sounding board because of the excessive flex cuts. That's the reason why I sold my Thera75 a month after I first got it. On the other hand, I never get tired of a good sounding board (which boards with lots of flex cuts generally are not).
Which keycaps are these?
