Eddie is a survivor and that's why over 3 decades later pearl jam is still going strong. I was 29 when my girlfriend introduced me to PJ debut album ten and I've been absolutely hooked to this band since, I mean daily on my 39 mile commute to work they have been keeping me company past 32 years. I'm about to retire as I'm now 61 but even as I how out from my career one thing that will not be bowing out is my absolute love for this band. That girlfriend is my wife over 3 decades now 5 daughter's and a lifetime of Pearl jam's music. Not a bad life ☺️👍

It's not even the words. There's just something about the entire arrangement that tugs at every fiber of my being. ...and, as I grow older, from a 90's teen till now, Pearl Jam has had an ever increasing meaning for me through these years. I almost don't know what to do with this...

MrRichierich got very emotional in the car the other day listening to ‘Comes then goes’ Grew up with all these guys, and into manhood and middle age. Still feels surreal that Chris is gone and Eddie is the last man standing. You can feel his pain and longing in the song. It’s almost too much...

  • @roberth4022

The talent and ability this man exudes is phenomenal. Pearl Jam immediately took over as my number one favorite band , from the first time I heard Alive. They keep getting better as time goes on. I guess we all hear the lyrics differently, I have read some of the other posters put down the words they hear, I would like to humbly contribute what I hear when I listen to this song: "Hear the sirens, Hear the sirens, Hear the sirens, hear the circus so profound..... I, hear the sirens, more and more in this here town.... Let me catch my breath, to breathe and reach across the bed, Just to know we're safe, I am a grateful man... The slightest bit of light and I can see you clear..... Have to take your hand and feel your breath, for fear this someday will be over.... I hold you close, so much to lose, knowing that nothing lasts forever..... I didn't care, before you were here, I danced in laughter, with the ever after... But all things change, let this remain.... Hear the sirens, covering distance in the night.... The sound, echoing closer, will they come for me next time.... Oh, every choice, mistake i've made, it's not my plan... To send you in the arms of another man.... And if you choose to stay, i'll wait, i'll understand.... Oh, it's a fragile thing, this life we lead... If I think too much, I can get over- Whelmed by the grace, by which we live our lives with death over our shoulder... Want you to know, that should I go, I always loved you... Held you high above, true.. I studied your face, and the fear goes away... -Beautiful guitar solo- It's a fragile thing, this life we lead... If I think too much, I can get over- Whelmed by the grace, by which we live our lives with death over our shoulder... Want you to know, that should I go, I always loved you... Held you high above, true.... I studied your face, and the fear goes away, the fear goes away, The fear goes away, the fear goes away Ahh ahh, ohh ohh... Ahh ahh, ohh ohh"

Back in my Native village.. On a full moon night,me and her (crush) were walking down the street while playing this song repeatedly. We sat under an old oak tree.. i asked her out (you how difficult it is) and she just leaned toward my shoulder,i embrace her and say if this is her yes, she say nothing but kiss me on my lips.. i feel like it seems the world stop rotating. The moon shine so bright,we sat there under the shadow of the tree until mid night talking about every possible things we could do in our lives........... Time gone by... I went to the town to earned for my livelihood, for my family....i havent heard anything from my love.. I return back home on december and thats when everythings changed. She married to a guy who is 10 times (100times) smarter and better than me, yes,i am happy for her, because she dont need to worry for tommorow i know she surely will be happy for the rest of her life.i wish her my very best of luck!! I am thankful to her for giving me such a wonderful moment and happy moment of my life, that i wont ever had again... I dont know if this song relate to my story or not. But it always remind me of that night, the moon , the wind ,the cloud ,the ambient. If i had one wish i wish to meet her for one last time, there are so many things i wanted to ask her,so many things i wanted to tell her.. but i guess that will never happened.. I am sorry for my bad english but i feel like i must write this..to let go.

Hear the sirens, hear the sirens Hear the sirens, hear the circus so profound I hear the sirens more and more in this here town Let me catch my breath to breathe then reach across the bend Just to know we’re safe, I am a grateful man This light is pit, alive and I can see you clear I could take your hand, and feel your breath For feel that someday this will be over I pull you close, so much to lose Knowing that, nothing lasts forever I didn’t care, before you were here A distant laughter, with the ever after But, all things change, let this remain Hear the sirens covering distance in the night The sound, echoing closer, will they come for me, next time? For every choice, mistake I made, is not my plan To send you in the arms of another man And if you choose to stay, I’ll wait, I’ll understand It’s a fragile thing, this life we lead, If I think too much, I can’t get over When by the grace, by which we live Our lives with death over our shoulders Want you to know, that should I go, I always loved you, held you high above too I studied your face, the fear goes away It’s a fragile thing, this life we lead, If I think too much, I can’t get over When by the grace, by which we live Our lives with death over our shoulders Want you to know, that should I go, I always loved you, held you high above too I studied your face, the fear goes away, The fear goes away, the fear goes away

This song has definitely grown on me since the first time I heard it. Their musical vision has grown so much since Ten and Vs. I was in college for those masterpieces and I can honestly say I appreciate this music almost as much.

Sometimes I try not to hear this song because it hits hard, but when the shuffle picks it, I have to hear it like 10 times and every one of them I begin to cry. Became such a personal song in my life since the first release then 10 years ago.

This is legendary, also one of the reasons why Pearl Jam are brilliant.

So I listened to this song like I would any pop song, letting it soak in, feeling its pulse, vibe, and words. Halfway in I'm HOOKED! Powerful and real, SO real to the core and GOOD!! Good as any song I've stuffed in this emotional catalog of my brain. I had tears!!....53 now and rolling wayyy down that rock 'n' road. From 70's Arena rock to Punk/hardcore and all the shit between.....Pearl Jam has NEVER failed, kept it real and faced Demons that have summoned Angels! (I know this!) THIS is a special band. I thank them for getting me through some tough times! We are NOT alone. Hold onto this!

Matt Cameron has added something so much with his backing vocals it's so good with the contrast to Eddie's awesome voice.
