I have to freely admit its my favourite place on the Island, and I think the locals are far more pleasant than in some other parts too.

A girl can dream, to be able to travel and see all the ancient sights. Old meets new. Thank you for bringing this to our viewing. I actually like the emptiness of humans, so I can actually see the beauty.

Gutn Tog Tours indeed! I've mentioned a couple of times that you are a natural tour guide. You could give Rick Steves a run for his 💰 money. Siracussa is beautiful.

So quiet. Hard to see it so quiet. It’s nice and easy to get around, no crowds to fight, but must be difficult for tourism trade. Thank you for sharing as you journeyed.

I can tick off another place I have always wanted to see thanks to you so generously sharing your visit 🤗🙏 Just love how cohesive it looks , all the buildings the same colour and the beautiful pavements snaking through the maze of buildings , with the bright blue of the sea and sky as the cherry on top ! The people of Sicily must be commended for preserving their heritage so well .

The pond you filmed with the fish in it is a miracle…well almost…it is the only source of fresh water on the island…that is why the ancients could withstand sieges. Archimedes lived here..it is amazing reading about the various waves of wannabe invaders wanting to secure Syracuse for themselves….lovely people, great seafood!

I was trying to determine what was used for the buildings. I was honking marble slabs or stone, then saw areas where it was rocks or blocks. So …plastered over? And the stone pavers everywhere, very interesting. Thank you for taking us on your walk. :)

Limestone, dolomite, and/or marble. Geology of the Mediterranean is marine sediments, plus the occasional volcanic activity.

I’m not trying to offend anyone …but I look at the church building g and wonder what a simple carpenter would think of this and the others if he was suddenly taken from that time and dropped into our time? It is amazing to see, the love and dedication that went into it all. Hmm.

Most urban centers all over the world have English speakers. Italian is a very beautiful and easy language, so take a good phrasebook with you. "Please" and "Thank you" in a local phrase and a smile are welcome anywhere.
