More Than An *Asterisk: Invisibility, Pretendians, and Reclaiming Indigenous Narratives.
In this lecture, Dr. Nichole Prescott discusses her academic research related to that of Indigenous peoples and the importance of authenticity as a form of resistance to invisibility, stereotype and identity fraud. The lecture is not representative of the University of Texas System. Part of the College of Arts and Sciences Sir Run Run Shaw lecture series, the lecture was co-sponsored by the Departments of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and History, and the Native American and Indigenous Studies Steering Committee. Dr. Prescott holds a PhD in History and a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Stony Brook University.
