He's so modest he mentions Escher without even mentioning that they were influences on each other. His science was inspired by Escher's art, and Escher's art was in turn inspired by Penrose's science. Like Escher sent him art made specially for him. I love listening to scientists like sir Roger and Brian Cox, they are so humble and unpatronising. I think it is because they realise that they know only a very small proportion of all that we can know, and that in time, their theories will be surpassed by future scientists. To know that your knowledge is incomplete is a sign of intelligence.

The average human does have an IQ of a chimp relative to these guys: (average) chimp 40, (average) human 100, Penrose 160. On top of it the precision involved in detecting gravitational waves is so exact that these theories must be on the right track. Another thing: IQ isn't everything but it does speak a lot for deductive abilities. Maybe all this means is we are not so different from chimps though...

@@romancotton8536 the idea of dark matter is simply that we don’t really know what it is because it’s dark lol. All we can really say is that it’s a form of matterthat was a by product of the Big Bang. It’s like a form of radiation that we can’t see, or some sort of frequency that we can’t tune into. He’s likely a visual thinker, not everyone only thinks using words lol. He can imagine it’s existence because of the way that he can visualize it effecting the matter around us, but he can’t visualize dark matter itself because u can’t see it.
