Sir John Barbirolli is interviewed by WGBH in 1959 while he was in Boston conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra for the first time. He would return to Boston many times following the successful concerts. The name of the interviewer is unknown.

Sir John must have been a delightful man, as well as a great conductor - a rather rare combination it would seem....
The interviewer is Jordan M. Whitelaw, producer of the Boston Symphony broadcasts.

Knew him ! He could be amusing. In the 70's I worked occasionally at Symphony Hall as coat-check, usher, etc.during my conservatory days. Heard some great concerts.

Interesting point made at around 7.45, namely the resemblance of the Partita 1st movement to another work of the composer. I have always thought it very similar to the opening of his 2nd symphony.
