Augie Meyers playing the keyboard with Doug Sahm singing the lead for the Sir Douglas Quintet. All were from San Antonio, Texas. Augie founded the band. I speak with Augie occasionally at the HEB grocery store on Bulverde Rd. in the northern fringe of San Antonio. He just turned 84 today, May 31, 2024, and my wife and I ran into him with three of his friends out to dinner at Bayseas Catfish Restaurant on Starcrest in north San Antonio. He and the great Flaco Jiminez are playing tomorrow night in Rockport, TX. They performed together in the Texas Tornadoes which also had the late Doug Sahm and the late Freddie Fender. I can truly say that Augie Meyers is a very nice person, still has his long braided pony tail and his black cowboy hat. A treasure living here in his hometown and loved by so many.

These guys were a "Cool" band. Just had that "Foot Tapping" sound & sung with a happy disposition. Simple but great times. Never get tired of the Sir Douglas Quintet - "Love that name " for the band.

It’s band founder Augie Meyers doing the keyboard solos, so need for any guitar solo. This was the “San Antonio sound” taken from a combination of conjunto with a touch of zydeco to make it unique. You can hear it on many of their songs like “She’s About A Mover”. Fun sound. Augie turned 84 today (05/31/2024) and still performs with the great Flaco Jiminez. Augie Meyers is a very nice man and lives here in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas.

The Sir Douglas Quintet was an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1964. With their first hits, they were acclaimed in their home state. When their career was established (subsequent to working with Texas record producer Huey Meaux), the band relocated to the West Coast. Their move coincided with the burgeoning San Francisco psychedelic rock scene of the mid 1960s to early 1970s. Overall, the quintet were exponents of good-times music with strong roots in blues and Texas-regional traditions. The band's songs were most noted for the instantly distinguishable organ sound of Augie Meyers' Vox Continental. Doug Sahm, a veteran of the professional music scene who first sang on radio at the age of five, formed the Quintet (first called simply "Sir Douglas") in 1964 with longtime friend Augie Meyers and the other original members, Jack Barber, Frank Morin, and Johnny Perez. Sahm had started in country music and had played (at age eleven) on-stage with Hank Williams, Sr. during the latter's final performance. Sahm went on to play in blues clubs in his teenage years and had gained experience as a band leader. The initial success of the new group, the Quintet, on the airwaves and sales charts was achieved when they made records in conjunction with Houston music producer Huey P. Meaux. Houston's recording industry had become the center of Texas R&B music. For more info. @ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Douglas_Quintet

@@WattisWatts I agree but lyrics like this teaches many young men it's OK to be a pussy. It also serves as an emotional drug to help setup those hormone raging pussy worshiping wimp into relationships where many types of women will eventually take advantage of them, walk all over them, take them for what they can get, and go have sex with an alpha male because women, in the end, don't respect a pussy and want to be with a desirable man that presents with the qualities of having money, power and fame. The ultimate outcome for pussy worshiping men have to learn the hard way by making their mistakes. With some pussified men, it leads to suicide.
