Sir Bobby Charlton in his own words & unseen Sir Alex Ferguson tribute
Спорт
This unique tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton includes exclusive footage from a Gala Dinner hosted by the Association of Former Manchester United Players in 2016. Featuring a special presentation to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bobby's United debut when Sir Alex Ferguson declared: "I owe him my life at Manchester United." This personal tribute also includes extracts from a fascinating interview when Sir Bobby talks to filmmaker John Gubba about his first memories of playing for Manchester United. "I couldn't say yes quick enough," said Bobby when he recalls how felt when he was offered the chance to become an apprentice at Old Trafford.

Couldn’t have said it better my self.
A lovely man that I stopped a canonshot from on May 17, 1978 in my Norwegian hometown of Tromsø. No, I did not play, but I was standing on a huge pile of snow 10-15 meters behind the goal. His shot went 35 meters, so I can confirm that he had a canonshot. RIP Sir Bobby!
The greatest thing to ever happen to Manchester United is Sir Bobby Charlton
I am 71 and a life long Orient fan. But when I was younger and Utd were playing in London I would give my dad an excuse not to go to Brisbane Road and I would go watch Law, Charlton, Best. There will never be a front three fit to lace their boots and Sir Bobby was my hero. We named our first son after him and thankfully our boy, now in his 60s, has lived his life with humility and compassion, just like the legend after whom he was named. RIP great man

Lovely story. Thank you for sharing. All the best to you and your family. And up the Os. ❤️
How clear his memory was. Sadly lost to dementia. England's greatest
Not heard a bad word about the man, from anyone over the years. That speaks volumes in itself, a great footballer, and even greater man.
sir Bobby loved United. And he knew how important it is to back our kids. ❤🤍🖤
The word legend is overused considerably these days. But this man, this man is the definition of a legend. One if the true greats of football, without him United do not have the history they have, and England literally would have no trophies. The greatest ever English and British player. One of the best. And on top of all that, a truly down to earth, humble and good man. Never be another like him.

According to Bobby himself he was not our greatest player he said he felt so inferior to Duncan Edwards. Unfortunately Duncan didn't get the chance to achieve what Bobby did.
RIP SIR WHAT A LEGEND WILL NEVER FORGET YOU SIR.
He talks about his life like it was a dream and that it all just happened to him. Such a humble man and the greatest servant to Manchester United ever. All through Ferguson era he was there in the background, I never knew he was in the dressing room after every game, even there when Keane and Schmeichel were fighting, he traveled with them all the time and the fact his favourite player was Scholes shows he's a legend

He was one of our biggest fans and supporter’s of our team through the highs and the lows. Amazingly humble man. ❤️
I was born in December 58 & named after Duncan Edwards by my United mad old man. He let me stay up to see his beloved team lift the European Cup in 68. Don't think I ever saw him more emotional. R.I.P Sir Bobby & thanks for the memories.

That’s beautiful. I was born 11 months later and watched with my dad on TV too. My earliest vivid memory of watching United ❤️JG
I'm so gutted that the Greatest Player to Wear the Red Shirt of Manchester United has passed away...i was dreading the day we would lose him. But at peace that he is with Duncan and the rest of the Great Busby Babe team mates and friends and Sir Matt.. Sending love to his family and friends at this sad time...R.I.P Sir Bobby Charlton.

RIP Sir Bobby God bless you and go and get a kick about with the Babes ⚽️🇾🇪❤️
A great, great man. He embodied everything that's good about the Beautiful Game. There's been no better ambassador for football worldwide.
‘My first experience of Bobby, Hampden Park 1958, was not a good one. He was offside!’ 😂 top form from The Boss. Just makes me sad that the people who made our club great are leaving us, one by one. Protect Sir Alex and Denis Law at all costs GGMU
Being part of a family that as supported the club since Newton Heath, im so proud to be a fan with so many greats, icons, legends. Sir Bobby Charlton will be missed throughout the fanbase, i will miss this chap. My Grandfather knew the Charltons and watched the brothers become football men. When i was growing up i use to enjoy the stories my grandfather told of the Charlton brothers, the Busby Babes and what the club was like before it became Manchester United, even use to sit with my grandfather watching old matches of England and United on the box. Rest easy Bobby, lace up and enjoy kicking the leather around the heavens with the boys. 💚💛❤️

My first boyhood football hero…..none better then and none since…..R.I.P Sir Bobby and thank you for all the memories I and many other have from your career
Fantastic footballer and a great man. RIP Sir Bobby. From an LFC fan YNWA
What a gentleman, a true example to us all. RIP…
First introdution I got to football was in 1987 with the vhs tape CHARLTON TO MARADONA - THE WORLD CUP GREAT GOALS (it's uploaded to KZread). I was 7 when I saw that and you couldn't wish for a better introduction. This great man is a giant of the game and is respected by fans of whatever club (I'm a Liverpool fan), not just because of his ability, he was a class act.
A brilliant player and by all accounts a brilliant human being rest in peace bobby
Legend ❤❤ RIP Sir Bobby ❤❤
Touche' Brother! We would have watched many games together from !959 onwards. I was a apprentice at AEI/GEC at that time and on many occasions would go straight to the ground from work to watch a evening game. Steel toe cap boots and sometimes FOG. Happy memories from a different era!! Thank you Bobby for the experience. RIP
The only English player the Scottish fans never slaged. One of his greatests goals he scored against them on his England debut at hampden park. Tom finney crossed the ball Bobby smashed it in so hard it almost tore the net from the goal that was 1958 you knew then he was destine for greatness. Thanks for the memories Bobby rip
Fantastic watch such a gentleman ❤🙏🏼

My boyhood hero world cup winner and don't forget Mexico in1970 we were beating the Germans two goals to one in the quarter finals and all Ramsey brought bobby Charlton of to rest him hopefully for the semi final.it wasn't to be and Germany came back to beat us three goals to two ,just shows you how good he was.simply the best player to play for England and Manchester United. Hopefully now their will be a statue erected at Wembley because its so rightly deserved RIP Bobby Charlton you will be sadly missed

remember watching that 1970 game and thinking we lost with a team that was at least as good as 66. And taking Bobby off was the mistake that finished us.

He once said on television that after the Munich air crash if someone had said that they were getting off the plane after the aircraft failed to get airborne the second attempt, all would have followed, that was the tragedy.
