Played in a five a side game once with Gordon Strachan on the other team. Not too long after he'd retired from playing. Couldn't get near him 😂 He was unbelievable and he was taking it easy on us too.

Alec Ferguson was a legend in the world of football before Man Utd. The last manager to beat Real Madrid in a European final, Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen.

But Ferguson damaged Man Utd beyond belief, I believe he was engineered out of the management position, and so as to maintain his legacy for as long as possible, he abused his right to nominate his successor, the powers that be under estimated his lack of loyalty to the club and when he nominated his successor, David Moyes, who’ previous managerial positions were Preston and Everton, Ferguson chose him, knowing he would not eclipse Fergusons achievements, indeed, as anyone who had ever seen a senior manager, with an axe to grind when removed from office in any business, knows, he will have no conscience regarding the demise in the short term of the business, by observing the errors and failures of the incoming replacement. This I believe was Fergusons objective, in bringing in a rookie, to team that was a contestant for European domination. I remember the season he was given to boot, Man Utd were streets ahead of the opposition with numerous games to play, but b6 the end of the season, they wilted and only just managed to secure the title in the end, after some very poor performances, at the time, I worried that they may start the next season, as they finished the last one, ….and they did under Moyes. Fergusons legacy should be the ruination of the club that it still struggles with today…… SHAME ON HI …from a loyal outspoken Man Utd fan of over 50 years.

Hearts missed out on the league, the next week they faced Aberdeen in the cup final. Sir Alex found out Hearts had employed a psychologist to get the league defeat out of their heads. Alex F had the Aberdeen team at Hampden before Hearts arrived and had all the Aberdeen players meet their opponents and say things like ‘ sorry you lost the league’, or ‘ maybe next time’. Stuff like that. Got into the Hearts players heads, beaten before the game started. Genius.

The North Sea is a cold body of water. Especially in the winter months when a large part of the football season is played. Cold is often used to treat injuries so if a player at Aberdeen turned up for training first day back after a match and said he was carrying an injury Alex Ferguson would tell him to go out and stand in the North Sea as a type of therapy. Obviously that would be a very cold and unpleasant experience so, if a player had a minor injury he wouldn't admit to it when asked as he wouldn't want to go out into the Sea. This no doubt cut down on the amount of players hoping to skip training that day by claiming to be carrying an injury. From what Strachan said here it seems Ferguson also used the threat of the North Sea as a type of punishment.
