Spots warts and blemishes Deep receding crevices Seem to disappear With foundation on my face Foundation on my face! Eye! Eye! Eye! Shadow conjures cheekbones Hides a nasal disgrace A disfigured atrocity J-j-jutting out of place Jutting out of place Make up to break up Make up to break up Make up to break up Make up, break up Make up to break up Girls with eyes like swimming pools Are the ones that I despise 'Cause I need lots of color To hide my bloodshot eyes Hide my bloodshot eyes Now to paint by number Over the cavernous pit Lots of glossy red To hide my pale cracked lips Hide my pale cracked lips Make up to break up Make up to break up Make up to break up Make up, break up Make up Now comes the break up From the make up Just like the devil's rain C-c-colors run insane Colors run insane Foundation starts to tremble My nose a grotesque abstract My mouth a gaping gap My eyes are shooting blood My face is cracking up My face is cracking up Make up to break up

Actually, the original footage is from the Granada Television show 'So It Goes' hosted by Tony Wison and this version (with the intro card and end quotes) is from a 1987 repackaging for Channel 4 to 'commemerate ten years of Punk'. Also, see that sweaty-faced ginger kid in the second row behind that long-haired Greb (who's having a great time by the way), that's Mick Hucknall...

I always loved this track. First heard it on channel 4 docu in 1991 Any banshees experts here know other than the riverside sessions version. And along with this live version why was the song never officially recorded? It should have been a single, could have fitted in their classic roll call of singles In 79 onwards It’s a myterwy as toyah would sing. As to why not

@AndyRiotRed: It wasn't time that ruined punk, it was the posers and their corporate-accountant puppet-masters! >And now we've got American-Idol, Reality TV, Abercrombie & Fitch and a whoooooooooooooooole lot of Political-Correctness to go with it!
