Why is that always a thing we all see when doing periscopes. Think about it every one of us has been in that moment once when playing submarine games. Hell its even in movies, makes me wonder if the real submarine crews experienced this kind of threat.

The moment it stops pinging you is the moment you know you have to crash dive, because it's when it starts the attack run.

You should read up on Otto Kretschmer. He was the most successful U-Boat captain in WW2, and he was the most "politest. " After sinking ships he would give blankets to the lifeboats and give them a heading to the nearest land. There were times where he even picked up survivors and helped them to lifeboats.

@Seamus O'Dork He killed people because it was war. When you were on those transport ships they knew they could die. It was the cost of war. However he did not take part in what we know as the holocaust. He was a man fighting for his country, not for Hitler. The German Navy had a notoriety for being a pain in Hitlers side for ignoring his commands and only listening to the navy commanders.

[Aboard the Destroyer] Captain: HELM, FULL YEET AHEAD!

Bloody hell, this game produces so much dread just watching it. I am not claustrophobic at all and weirdly like being in enclosed spaces.But the creeking noise, compact space, flickering lights and the lound booms and bangs from the other ships weirdly made me feel nauseous. This seems an insanely fun game!

Lol. But on the other hand, the periscope then will need to be able to be damaged, AKA got snapped when it's rammed. Otherwise the sub will always get sunk easily by only ramming the periscope.

A: 22:55 did... did Karma just suggest they surface their Uboat and attack a destroyer with their deck gun? B: The hydrophone guy was entertaining: "Come to the hydrophone, you can hear the screams as their souls pass to the other side" (ahem, paraphrased) C: I didn't notice any raising or lowering of the periscope, only when someone raised the observation scope in front of you. Is that in there with no motor noise, or do you just leave it at one spot?

Good discussion @25:00, and it's not surprising that people are generally unaware of some interesting history in this area. There's seems to be a cart blanche approach to presuming that all Germans were supporters of the Nazi regime and were cold, heartless killers. If only war was that black and white. Google "The Laconia Incident". A German U-Boat picked up survivors, but didn't have enough room below decks, so they had them on rafts attached to the hull of the boat and people on the deck of the boat. They had sunk a passenger ship - I think mistaking it for a different type of vessel. The U-Boat captain, had a red cross draped across the hull of the boat, and gave shelter to the survivors. A US B-24 Liberator spotted the submarine. An RAF officer taking refuge on the submarine contacted the aircraft and notified the pilot that there were civilians on board (including women and children). The American pilot reported the red cross on the deck of the boat. However, the order was given for the aircraft to attack the submarine .... I won't spoil the story here.... do yourselves a favour and look it up. Or read the personal memoir, "One Common Enemy" by Jim McLoughlin.

not sure if you guys talk about it in the video, but you guys probably should have gone to periscope depth as soon as you saw those ships. you are supposed to ambush convoys, then run away. if a destroyer spots you, you are in pretty big trouble. I remember playing silent hunter 2 and if a destroyer got a bead on you, there was almost no escape.

They were also on the surface during daytime. Great way to end up dead. Uboats used hydrophones to find convoys during the day then surfaced at night to run at high speed.

It's great this wolfpack game ahy, with all the communication between you guys it certainly makes it more realistic which makes it fantastic & pretty close to the real thing, it certainly keeps the crew on their toes

This looks better than the original game I used to play on ms-dos back in 1991. Glad they remade it hope it's just as awesome

Excellent demonstration on how the game was designed to be played. I know folks are clamoring for a single player aspect, however I agree with the development team that folks need to give the multiplayer game play a chance -- its where the games really shines -- you guys really looked like you we're having a great time working together accomplishing the mission.

one of my fave moments in a sub lets play was one f jef shooting down a recon plane with the msg just for it to crash into him

They have an 88mm artillery gun. I'd say that'll fill that role.

I've had my eye on this game for awhile and was a bit skeptical at first but it does look really cool.

We’re u using he hydroplanes because if u flood the tanks u can just use the hydroplanes for a casual dive. I recommend following the dev team’s channel Wolf Pack Team or something like that. Also recommended that you follow Jack_ a wolf pack streamer. Pls note that these are just advise and I am not saying you’re bad or anything.

I did not expect this to be so cringe to many people talking... I believe the reference to shot across the bow is due to maritime law.

Simulators don't generally come out on console. It's largely to do with that it is simply not the target audience. Plus, a lot of simulators have hyper-realism as their objective, both through gfx and controls, which is not really something consoles can offer. Modding, something also very popular in simulators, is another issue on consoles. It's al around simply a too inferior system for simulators. You need a PC/Linux.

The game is also being made by 2 guys. There's no way it will ever come to console until it's 100 percent done for PC, or if the game takes off enough to hire a few guys to do a console port.
