Being a step parent isn't for everyone. Years ago, I was dating someone, but I didn't know he had kids and when I found out and saw all the drama with the 2 baby mommas he had, I politely told him that I Don't think this would work and he wasn't even mad at me and respected me, til this day we're still good friends and he found someone else, I'm so happy for him. Him and my current bf even talked and they got along great!

It's heartbreaking to think that someone would judge and reject another person simply for being a loving parent. Being a single dad takes courage, dedication, and immense love for one's child. Anyone who would dump someone for having a kid is clearly missing out on the opportunity to be with someone truly special. Keep your head up, single dads. How is that heartbreaking? Not everyone wants children, and thats fine. If I had a date with someone and would find out later he has kids, I would end the developing relationship. Its super important to be clear and honest about having kids from the beginning, otherwise it can really be a waste of time.

Exactly if you don’t want to be with someone because they have kids it’s okay. It’s not for you and it’s better to tell them upfront before you go off and start dating, get married, and then act like a crappy stepmother/stepfather. It’s ok if kid life is not for you. Not everyone is meant have a family, and be parents. Everyone has a different path and purpose in life. God has our best interests at heart. Just don’t be so rude and disrespectful about it, we all need to love and respect each other.

My question is, what wouldn't have to be disclosed? There's lots of things that might not work. Disclosing you're vegan, disclosing you can't travel, disclosing your job, disclosing you have allergies, disclosing you're religious... I can probably think of a lot more if I try. (this is a genuine question not to say you're wrong ofc) And before you start: vegan in terms of cooking, travel in case the other loves to travel a lot, job in case of when and how much the other works, allergies in case if the other has a cat/dog/other animal, religious since some people might not be able to respect it.

I dont really agree here. Personally I never wanted children and I would not be willing to take on a parental role, so when I was single I would have never dated a father. Its important to be very clear and honest about that topic when dating, everything else is a waste of time and energy for everyone. Of course the character in the video is not very likeable at all and I would never react in such a rude and weird way, but I understand her point. I really like of how Mindy changed later in the story. She even grew to like Robert’s daughter when they bumped into each other again. Sometimes you just have to give kids a chance cause you might grow to like them. Parenting does take love and patience. And life isn’t all about being someone’s first priority and having fun, it’s also about responsibilities.
