Awesome video! Most of these tailgate circuits also have an "auto circuit breaker" right next to the battery where the 2 AWG cable is connected to the battery.

I agree with everyone, grear job explaining. I just want to mention one thing fuid cannot be compressed. Ir is pressurized but not compressed. Great job. Thanks, Tim

hydraulic fluid does not compress well.. the pump attempts to compress it.. if hydraulic fluid did not compress at all you would blow the system out in 2 seconds

Cool explanation, I've worked with hydraulics on tractors for years and you're spot on. There are several type one way valves that have been used over the years, I'm familiar with lever operated, but I think electric motor operated works basically the same way. Great video.

That was very helpful. I got given a 12v hydraulic pump but had no idea what to do. Thank you.

Good video. Thanks for covering your connections with shrink tube. Not sure how corrosion works down there, but up here in Michigan it will ruin your day trying to figure problems out when its just a corroded wire that went through a winter up here uncovered. Excellent explanation of the hydraulic system as well.

Hey hoss thanks for the advice. I'm fixing screwed up wiring someone did to a dump trailer. My advice on the top window and such is to use your big vehicle. Park it close to the house and set your ladder up to get on the vehicle and GIT R DUN. 😀

But how do you activate the down button without a remote? I have a basic hydraulic pump that came out of a couch that tilts and lifts. However the remote was missing, when I plugged the pump into the power socket it began to extend out. Now i want to retract it but I can't. I assumed that reversing the polarity would work so i plugged the positive to negative and vice versa but that still won't retract the pump arm which is fully extended at the moment. Edit: Theres only two cables running to the 24V motor eg. black and white.

thank you very much for the explanation, just one question, when you puss the button up, the pump starts and the solenoid is off right?, only when you push the button down, the solenoid starts ?, thank you very much for your time

Excellent video until I came back from making a sandwich and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I seen you using Wire Nuts for automotive. Trying to finish my sandwich with a side ache from laughing so hard isn’t easy. 😆 Hey I’m just giving you shit Excellent video, I new exactly what you were doing by using wire nuts I do the same thing they are perfect for temporary testing your work don’t have to waste tape and time. Wire nuts are quick and insulated and make it easy for testing your work until you’re ready to make it permanent. I like seeing common sense and there’s too many people out there that don’t have much if any 😂 Good job, Great video 👍

you should see how they wire in huge industrial 3 phase motors that the whole room vibrates and run 24 hours a day for years… with wire nuts.. wire nuts get a bad rep because dumb asses use them wrong.. I use them for testing but not permanent
