You don't see her pissed because she is heartbroken. It's hard to be pissed when your heart has been split in two and you're grieving the loss of your relationship and dreams. People react to situations differently. What some people react to with anger, some react with sadness.
Yeah, she’s more nasally at first on purpose and then she’s more open here because her character has developed. Nasally Eliza is young, naive, and a little boy crazy. More open Eliza has gotten older and seen what life and what men can do. Her choices are extremely deliberate.

100%. Eliza was about 23 when she married Alexander, and the Reynolds’s Pamphlet was published 17 years later. I love that we hear Eliza’s voice mature as the show progresses.
I'm pretty sure this is not a clip from the Disney+ version, because the angles were all wrong and her performance is slightly different. I think she does even better in the Disney+ run. Seriously. She's *amazing* in that one.

Yeah, this isn't the Disney+ version. This clip is from a dress rehearsal either right before the show opened on Broadway or right after. She has more grit in her voice in the Disney+ version because she had performed the show for over a year at that point.

Can I just say that women "choosing" to stay with men who cheated in the late 18th century probably had a lot less to do with romance and a lot more to do with the fact that it wasn't really that easy for a woman in that time to walk out on her husband as he was her financial support and courts wouldn't necessarily agree to a divorce. Hamilton's own mother left her first (/only) husband and he had her pretty much branded a whore (through Danish Law, not American or British) and she was forbidden from ever remarrying - which is why Hamilton was born out of wedlock. So I think it's easy for us in the 21st century to just brush her off as "romantic", but I do not think it is fair.
@bndrewd

Really late but Eliza did have the means to go and live without Hamilton because of her family status and wealth. What you say it's true, but not exactly in her case
@sinswept
2 жыл бұрын
@@bndrewd in theory you are right. But with the social stigma attached to divorce there is no saying for sure they would have taken care of her. Hamilton died before his father in law and if I am not mistaken Eliza got on some really tough times after his death because the state refused to give her Hamilton's pension and she had to pay back his debts. So I don't think we can assume that she had that parachute, and women in general in the era probably didn't either.

Thank you so very much for educating me on the inaccuracies surrounding Rachel Faucette Buck (Hamilton's mother) 🙏💕 I've been a Hamilton Stan for many years and did not know this information at all. 🤦 Those lines in the musical calling her a "whore" were problematic enough when I naïvely thought she was legitimately a sex worker by trade, but to research this after reading your comment and learn she was a business woman slandered and shamed by her ex-husband...well, let's just say I wish Lin had chosen another, more accurate lyric for that rhyme scheme. The man is a lyrical genius, so I'm certain he could have found one 😅🙄 Anyway, I appreciate the info! Living in Canada I never learned much American history until recent years and I do find it all very fascinating. I suppose the inaccuracies just drive home the point that we have no control who lives, who dies, who tells our story! Definitely curious what the history books will say about our generation, a couple hundred years from now 🤔

Please do a reaction to hamildrop "First Burn". It is a song told from the point of view of Eliza Schuyler, Alexander Hamilton’s wife, as a reaction to the recount of his affair in the Reynolds Pamphlet, in lieu of “Burn” from the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hamilton. First Burn" is the fifth song in Hamildrops and was released in April, 2018. This was the first draft of the song Burn sung by Eliza in Act 2. It was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, produced by Alex Lacamoire and Mike Elizondo and performed by Lexi Lawson, Arianna Afsar, Shoba Narayan, Rachelle Ann Go, and Julia Harriman, who have each played Eliza in the show in various Hamilton companies.

One thing about philippa, her Eliza is very faithful to the historical Eliza who even if she’s frustrated or angry or disappointed in Hamilton, she still stays, she still supports him. It’s more realistic that she would have this more subtle reaction compared to o filled with anger and fury The other song’s and the way she sings correlate with how she sees herself as just a side character, an influence on Hamilton as opposed to Angela who saw herself as an individual first. But this song is where for the first time, she puts herself first and Renees style bleeds into hers to support that. But even then, her reaction is more about heartbreak than anger.
This song makes a lot more sense if you listen to the Reynolds pamphlet first. Also the whole beginning of the song is missing...

Love the reaction video on burn. Unless you edited your reaction, you did not review the whole song. There is a whole stanza (I think) that’s missing at the beginning of the song. It added to the build up of emotion. Don’t know if that was deliberate or not. Kind of disappointed because The male cast members have not really been reviewed. And with this going in order, you will most likely be sticking with the female performances for this series. Which makes me even more excited to for you to do the watch party. The lamp is the only prob in the show that has real fire so apparently the dress is fireproof just in case (or so I heard on Twitter), meaning that throwing the lamp would have ended the show for Real

You can’t say “I’d be pissed” when you’ve never been there, ya know. Life is so messy. I think women who leave are incredible, but I also think women who stay are incredible. Plenty of modern politicians have cheated, and their wives have reacted differently. Without naming any names, one worried most about her teenage daughter and decided she still loved her husband. That was brave. Some other women married a man who cheats on all his wives. One left quietly. One stormed off to California with her daughter. And one is still complicit. Eliza was much more like former reaction. As much as marriage was irreversible at the time, imagine being in a position where everyone knows everything about your family. Your husband’s affairs are published. And actually, apparently Eliza Hamilton encouraged him to put out the Reynold’s Pamphlet. On top of that, you have a whole bunch of kids. Her life was falling apart before her eyes; I’m not surprised Phillipa didn’t portray her as “pissed.”
So yeah, after three takes, I couldn't help but subscribe. Thank you for leaving it all in!

LOL @ these haters. IDK if it that they can't appreciate music and singing outside the genres and styles they prefer or what. All I know is that Phillipa won a grammy and to my knowledge none of them have even been nominated much less won. It is true that awards are largely political and by themselves don't prove much of anything. That being said, thousands upon thousands of people hear Phillipa's sound and love it so she must be doing something right. And these haters may be decent vocalist but nobody even knows who they are so they must be doing something wrong. . Could it be jealousy at her success at such a young age? Or is it just as simple as an inability to appreciate sounds and styles they aren't accustomed to as I postulated above? We may never know....oh well time for me to move past these forgettable haters and onto the next youtube vid LOL.
