Recommend their “Pentatonix - The Recording Of Evergreen” to show some of their creative process in making the Evergreen album.

They were incredibly good even back then. They have continued to find new things to try. I wonder what they have tried that they couldn't make work. Would love to see some of those videos, just to see that they are still human.

I agree about the song, and the incredible Babyfacetonix! Such a great performance from their early days.

They may look like children...but they don't SOUND like children. Now that's what I call a true DROP!!!! I always enjoy your PTX reactions. You are a true fan! I think they sound so dramatic here because they had lost their Sony contract and they were "hungry" for success. They really threw themselves into this one. Did you notice Kevin doing water drops, flicking his cheek, while Kirstie did her solo? So cool!

Great reaction! I agree that some of the older, simpler videos are fun to watch because you can really focus on the singing! In this one, I love watching Kevin. To me it looks like he's having his own private conversation! He's just amazing to me. Thanks again, Brad!

Thanks for reacting to this early Pentatonix video. For another early PTX video, please react to their video for "Starships". I checked your Pentatonix playlist and was surprised how many Videos you have not reacted to yet. Some of the major ones re "New Rules x Are You That Somebody?", "Havana", "Gold", "Problem", "Can't Help Falling In Love With You", "Perfect", "Say Something", "Can't Sleep Love" and Popspring video. It has 3 original songs and "Evolution Of Michael Jackson performed live.

Ah, this is one of their early classics. I love it too. They sounded so good. I think I remember reading that this video was one of their first to go viral after Sony dropped them. Yes, in this video and others from this era, it's hard to remember when looking at those young faces that even the Trio were young adults, not in their early to mid-teens. Glad you went back and did this one Brad.

Yes, I'd love a throwback video! Another cover on a couch or in a stairwell, just the pure sound. Love PTX.

One of my all-time favorites! First PTX video I ever saw, and I was sooooo hooked. I love these older, raw videos, too. Some newer fans say they sound so much better in their more recent videos, but they don't appreciate the level of production they are now using, and making a video like this, one take, one mic, often on just an iPad - is what was so unbelievable from the beginning. Thanks for the great reaction!

Like in the harmony, when Scott is singing the first verse, and he says "you were right for me" and "lonely in your company", and Mitch & Kirstie only come in on the last two syllables - How perfect is that!!!!! They split the word "company" and only sing "pan-y". Who does that? Only these guys, that's who.

Oddly enough Avi Kaplan was just mentioning how "old" he is now on a Twitter livestream (he and Kevin are 33). Everything is relative I guess. This was their first viral video and Ben Bram, their arranger, is the voice you hear in the beginning saying "let's go" while he recorded it.

If you think Pentatonix looks young in this video, check out the Liliac cover of "Crazy Train" that was shot on Santa Monica Pier. The oldest of the five might have been 18, and the youngest hadn't reached double digits.

Also.... can't hear this without thinking of Depp/Heard or other people that have been mistreated badly/abused in a relationship. When you are freed from that type of situation, you work toward mentally/emotionally being able to say one day "now you're just somebody that I used to know". Not so much literally but in a way that is more like "you have no hold on me anymore. Byyyyyye!"

So there is a whole raft of TikToks of them doing improvised vocals in stairwells etc., some of them not more than a year or two old, that have a similar feel. (And you just said you follow Scott on TikTok, so you may have seen some of them.) The PTX Weekly News account here on KZread has curated a bunch of them. I second the suggestion that you check out the short documentary The Recording of Evergreen.

As usual, PTX has made a cover better than the original. Those dramatic drops were cool, though I don't think they would do that today. Your comment about their growth was spot on.

HOW have you done 80 something PTX reactions, yet you never reacted to their “Sing-Off” performances when they first performed together? BTW, I believe June marks 11 years that they’ve been together as “Pentatonix”, when they came together to compete on the singing competition.
